Warning #1: This was my first puzzle submission, back in February of 2007.

    Warning #2: Anagram alert!

And here's a couple of "clues" for those of you who asked, worrying about the arrival of this puzzle today...

Hint #1: In checkers, 50% of the squares on the board are not used and irrelevant to the game. In this puzzle, it's about 61%.

Hint #2: Standard checkers rules apply, including the rule whereby a player must jump if a jump is available.

I hate to say this but this is a much better puzzle than some of murdoctors recent ones. It requires some research if you don't know checkers but the solve method can be found fairly easily

It was certainly easier than most!

[2] Several of my recently unfeatured puzzles were old puzzles that have been sitting in the backlog for a long time... but at least it's good to know that my very first effort wasn't a bust.

See, now, I thought this was a perfectly fine puzzle. The mechanism relies on a standardized source (as opposed to having to try various things until you get numbers/letters). And while there's anagramming, (a) there's little doubt, I think, that you're getting the right letters once you get them, which is one of the big problems with gratuitous anagramming puzzles ("...this just isn't forming a word! I should try something else..."), and (b) the need to anagram is inherent in the mechanism, which is the other problem with GA puzzles ("...but if I'm supposed to rearrange the letters, why not just give them to me in the right order in the first place?").
