Hah! Your little letter counts at the top totally helped me out! I think I could have gotten it anyway though, the cluing was very well done.

  12. ErwinPepperTangaAl on Apr 08, 2011 07:21 PM

I agree with [1]. Not sure if I would have gotten it without that.

    Great cluing, duckpond!

    [11], cool!

  15. 07310099PancakesLakeLivin on Apr 08, 2011 07:29 PM

12th only because I remembered what the little red letters stood for. For those stuck, this is a puzzle that is not phonetically exact. But it's a common enough phrase and close enough phonetically that you should be able to recognize it since you're given the number of letters in each word.

  16. Brownie_sundaeGarlicbrownie1 on Apr 08, 2011 07:40 PM

[16] Thanks for the salt. This took over 31 minutes to do. Hard Puzzle! Went and did the OWW while I was trying to figure this out.

  17. Avatar_profileStrawberrysobelle on Apr 08, 2011 07:40 PM

hard one, could not have done it without the letter count.

  18. Avatar_profilePeartomisworld on Apr 08, 2011 07:40 PM

Couldn't solve it until I gave up on my first assumption of what the bird was called in this case. Took me a while.

  19. Eg181208Potatotvfamily on Apr 08, 2011 07:47 PM

7 minutes and 47 seconds and were the 187th Tanga member to solve it. Ummmmm.....I don't know about this one. The word/letter count helped, but I still had to take a guess at it and was correct!

  20. 07310099PancakesLakeLivin on Apr 08, 2011 07:57 PM

Should have mentioned above: Nice puzzle given the letter count. I wouldn't have liked it without that.

Really liked it; tough, but solve-able.

  27. Avatar_profileOrangewutane on Apr 08, 2011 09:00 PM

Thanks for the help TangaAl! I really feel dumb now. I was almost there and had to take a step back. Stupid bird!

  28. Haibane_renmeiWatermelonSamus419 on Apr 08, 2011 09:09 PM

    love it!

  29. Leslie_nielsenGrapescdp4444 on Apr 08, 2011 09:24 PM

    Sweet! Great puzzle!

  30. Tanga_shadow_goat_2-fpAceshiella on Apr 08, 2011 10:03 PM

didn't notice the letter count; thought it was fairly easy There are only two pics to actually decipher! The first one there's only one really called a plate and it's usually shaped differently And if you use the generic term for bird -how many phrases could possibly end with that/?Thanks duckpond

  31. FileRocketlaurelg1 on Apr 09, 2011 05:30 AM

Woo Hoo, excited that I am getting better at this! Now if I could only stay awake till these things are posted and not have to hit them the next morning!

  32. ConcentrateStrawberrykatopong on Apr 09, 2011 06:06 AM

I swear I thought the first pic was a rice paddy...

  33. FileCarrot12Buffalo on Apr 09, 2011 06:12 AM

    Not the best

  34. FilePumpkinJohn on Apr 09, 2011 07:52 AM

Agree with [7] - sloppy proununciation, and lots of possible words fit each picture makes this rough.

  35. Daisy_bellis_perennisAcejargonista on Apr 09, 2011 09:07 AM

[7] I appreciate your assertion that you enunciate properly. I pride myself on my own clarity of speech. However, I disagree about the fairness of the cluing. The +D *is* clued by the first letter of the second image. "D" and "T" are both alveolar plosives differentiated only by the amount of "force" used to pronounce them. At the end of English words, especially ones that precede an unrounded vowel, they are often difficult to differentiate.

On a personal note, I prefer the Cryptopix that you have to sound out a little bit. Otherwise answering early and getting bonus points becomes more of a typing test than a solved puzzle. I didn't get in the top 100 here, but that's OK. I found the puzzle entertaining. For me, it was challenging enough and creative enough to warrant a bit of defense.

    IMHO, Very nicely clued!

  36. Avatar_profilePeachmalmal89 on Apr 09, 2011 10:44 AM

loose pronunciation, wouldn't have got it without help from [7]

  37. FileKiwiKharing68 on Apr 09, 2011 12:04 PM

At first, I didn't know what "eight cock E" was.....LOL!

  38. Bradandiinhawaii-2Peachbrilliantlyred on Apr 09, 2011 01:16 PM

You solved this puzzle in 31 minutes and 39 seconds and were the 457th Tanga member to solve it.

This puzzle was really difficult for me, and couldn't have done it without [36]!! Thanks!

  39. FilePancakesCWarrior on Apr 09, 2011 02:26 PM

    ... and [7] is gone ...

  40. Clematis_around_tree_cropped_12-22-2006-011Potatokathy155 on Apr 09, 2011 03:13 PM

I enjoyed it - if I'd initially picked the right gender of the bird I'd probably have figured it out sooner.

  41. Sherman109Plumtina20 on Apr 11, 2011 08:24 AM

    mweeee mwaaaaah... :P

  42. UntitledCarrotBattler on Apr 28, 2011 02:18 PM

took me a while since I thought the last word must have been cocky.
