I almost saved this one for a different day...
Not sure what to do here. Saying it isn't helping me.
OK I got it now. Tried several combinations before finding the right one. Not sure what [1] is referring to.
[2] Oh, but it should be helping you.
[1] You should have saved it for next year! : (
huh ... could have sworn I tried that answer earlier. I love the last line of the solution.
Edit: I'm surprised at some of the comments below; I thought this puzzle was quite a good one.
It doesn't help me that today is the birthday of geocaching (www.geocaching.com)
Fun puzzle!
Is there a solve method here or is it a "you see it or you don't" kind of puzzle? 'Cause I ain't seein' it!
I'm gonna drive a Geo Metro while doing some geometry in hopes of finding a Neo Geo at the local geocache, and hopefully get some inspiration here.
Anyone else not able to see the puzzles tonight? Never happened to me before. I have refreshed and tried IE and FF browsers. Any suggestions?
You solved this puzzle in 19 minutes and 52 seconds and were the 53rd Tanga member to solve it.
Almost 20 minutes and still not 100 solvers.
[10] Try Chrome?
I've seen some trouble with the avatars and fruit temporarily not displaying. Maybe it's related?
Gah. I had the last letter wrong for a while :-P
Solved it! 61st
[13] Same here.
You solved this puzzle in 2 minutes and 3 seconds and were the 48th Tanga member to solve it. You earned 63 points for solving this.
LOVED IT!!!!! LOL.
[13] same here. Your comment made me look at it again. Thanks.
I didn't think this puzzle was very good.
[13] Me too.
Still no clue here. But pronunciation is the key?
[10][12] Apparently there is some problem with AT&T and images hosted by the Cloud....
Salt anyone?
So it's geocaching related, right? I'm searching for everything with the number 80 on geocaching and all trails are going nowhere.
30 minutes and i'm lost, ready to give up.
EDIT: You solved this puzzle in 12 minutes and 55 seconds and were the 93rd Tanga member to solve it. You earned 18 points for solving this.
Baaa. I had to say it nice and slow and aloud several times before it clicked.
[19] Sometimes it's a matter of putting the acCENT on the right sylLAble.
[19] Yes it is. Keep saying it.
[22] NO, it is NOT related to geocaching in any way, shape, or form.
[22] I don't think so, but don't take my word for it as I haven't solved it yet.
We're stumped so far, but my BF and I sound like a couple of nuts here trying to sound it out. We've just gone through a phase where we're doing the "O-E-Ohh E-OOhhh" that the wicked witches guards keep chanting. The dog is looking at us, strangely.
[24]Thanks, that helped a LOT!
[24] You know, that led me to pronouncing it in a way that made me sound like I was spelling a legitimate four letter word. That was not the answer. Everyone ready for me to submit another duplicate puzzle with a different valid answer? :)
[28] Thanks for the entertainment! lol
[30] It wasn't? Are you sure? Better check again.
[28] ROFL!!!!
geoweighty?
geoweightoh?
zihuatenejo?
[32] Checked three times now. I'll send it to you in a TG.
Got it finally! Thanks to [8] and bfogartyjr.
Wahoo! You solved this puzzle in 2 minutes and 36 seconds and were the 97th Tanga member to solve it.
We're diametrically opposed in our feelings about this puzzle. He hates it - I think it was pretty good!
[36] How did "fun puzzle!" help you?
[32] Gaaah! 98th.
I give this the requisite 1&5 rating.
[39] I'm guessing he got help via TG.
We're past 100 solves now. [32] So you're saying the answer is 4-letters long? That should help me, but I still have no idea. There isn't any anagramming involved, is there?
Okay, It's official.. I HATE THIS WORD whenever it shows up in an OWW :) (if you guys remember the 'other' puzzle that used it... you'll know what I"m referring to.. and I'd guarantee you where this puzzle came from.. {actually it's a "full guarantee" after reading the entire solution. })
I had the same problem that [46] had... my natural accent made this tougher.
[43] Yes. None at all. Read what is there and write the answer. Hope that helps.
Oh, sheesh. My lazy Southern accent really hurt me on this one. Make sure you make all your letters crisp when you sound this out or you'll get a verb instead of the answer word.
Nice job, though bfogartyjr!
[43] No anagramming.
[44] Yes, I remember it. But I thought this was really funny when I solved it. :D
110th. Not one of my favs. I think I would have solved it much more quickly if the "E" hadn't been included.
OK, it's not about where you put the emphasis. It's really just about learning to live life at a slower pace.
The answer is groan-worthy to long-time Tangans, or those thoroughly steeped in Tanga history
hehe... [47] i knew someone else would remember that one :) and [48] that letter is "important" (IMO) to make this one a puzzle.
[50] Not the way I was trying to solve it for much of the time. You could come up with the same answer without the E, the method would just have been a bit different.
[50] Agreed about the "E" - needs to be there. Otherwise we wouldn't be pronouncing it right.
I think it's funny that [13] and [14] had the same problem I did but since I hadn't gotten that close yet, I didn't put it together with the problem I was having later. :)
I agree with [50] that the E is important, or this wouldn't really be a puzzle. However the emphasis IS important (IMO) because I couldn't hear it the first few times I said it, until I changed where the accent was going. Only THEN did I hear the ending properly.
[12], [20] Thanks for the comments. After about 1/2 hr., the pics & graphics started showing up. Just missed out on any bonus pts. but at least I finally got to see the puzzles! AT&T very well may have been the problem.
I kept trying to figure out why we were numbering our Georges...
Booo!
Thanks to [49] tho, since I was aware of that blasted puzzle from before (referenced in this one too).
Also, I can't believe it's not...
GROAN.....
Ok I guess I pronounce one of the words "wrong" (the last syllable). I don't understand [1] at all.
:::::::GROAN::::::::
I am just not getting this one
... I still have no clue ...O|¯|_
[58] and [60] + 1 Uggggg....
[24] gives you everything you need to know. stop thinking and say it slowly with emphasis.
OMG, I feel so stupid. Said it a million times before it clicked..... LOL
GEE-ee-oh-ay-tee, GEE-ee-oh-ate-oh, GEE-yoh-ay-tee, GEE-yoh-ate-oh,
gee-EE-oh-ay-tee, gee-EE-oh-ate-oh, gee-YOH-ay-tee, gee-YOH-ate-oh,
gee-ee-OH-ay-tee, gee-ee-OH-ate-oh, gee-yoh-AY-tee, gee-yoh-ATE-oh,
gee-ee-oh-AY-tee, gee-ee-oh-ATE-oh, gee-yoh-ay-TEE, gee-yoh-ate-OH,
gee-ee-oh-ay-TEE, gee-ee-oh-ate-OH,
q(ὸ_ό)~{$#@^$!!!}
EDIT: Thanks to some friendly TGs, I finally got it.... and double ditto to the *Groan* (lol)
d(゚∀゚)~{$#@^$!!!}
this is an everyday word for me, so I thought that can't be right;like I was inserting my bias
so while I was trying all the accents and starting to sound European, I just typed it in as a frustration gesture to get it out of my head and VOILA
[28] thanks for the imagery laugh!!!!
[7] yay! I love geocaching
yeah... anyone have some salt? I am sitting here whispering to myself at work and I'm getting nothing
jeesh, drove me nuts!
My life is very bland but with all this salt is instrumental and timely. Working in an elementary school and hearing kids sound words out helps too.
You solved this puzzle in 5 minutes and 51 seconds and were the 222nd Tanga member to solve it.
Dang. I feel like that took me too long!
[68] You want to pronounce the two part as words, not as individual letters like [65] and I were doing (for the first part at least.) Then just slow it down and think of another way you write it and get the same sounds.
TG me some salt...someone....anyone?
TG please, the correct pronunciation eludes me.
Good. Simple yet deceptive.
You solved this puzzle in 24 minutes and 11 seconds and were the 261st Tanga member to solve it. You earned 10 points for solving this.
Almost drove me crazy!
bah!
9 hours, 0 minutes and 28 seconds and were the 278th Tanga member to solve it. Not a good puzzle........
Got if after TG help. I didn't realize the pronunciation was spelling a word instead of being a word. I said it many times and didn't think of it as individual letters.
Even knowing the answer, I still have no idea how that translates into the answer. No matter how I say it, or sound it or spell it or swear at it, it makes no sense.
lol, Ok this one really got me. Great puzzle bfogartyjr!
I finally got it.....groan is an understatement.
