Amazing puzzle!
...thought i was stumbling upon a red herring...glad i followed through
Got here late, but got it fast! 14th!
This one is right up my alley! Great job, OneEye!
You solved this puzzle in 2 minutes and 51 seconds and were the 8th Tanga member to solve it. You earned 103 points for solving this.
I rechecked it a couple of times because I wasn't sure it was a word!
That was an a-maze-ing puzzle. Kudos!
Very nice - worth the aha!
I got through the maze and thought, "now what?" After a short pause, I decided to try something. Got letters that looked like they might be spelling something and was quite pleased when I finished. But I guess 49 people either got through the maze faster than me or hit the a-ha sooner. (I think I was being a tad too deliberate at ruling out paths - I should have just made a run for it!)
Very nice job!
[8]Very straightforward after solving the maze. There was an [8] when I posted this, don't know what happened unless there was an edit that salted it.
Nice! We prefer puzzles like these that can be solved without Google.
This one was interesting. Thanks for making it!
oh. blue squares are important. lol!
Very cool!
90th tonight
You solved this puzzle in 4 minutes and 23 seconds and were the 59th Tanga member to solve it
Nice Puzzle, had to back-step original calculations. But worked it out...just barely off....
starting to feel really dumb...
*edit*
And a total post and solve!
thank you [13]
What an awesomely unique puzzle!
Started late and still made it through in the top 100.
You solved this puzzle in 4 minutes and 38 seconds and were the 99th Tanga member to solve it. You earned 12 points for solving this.
WOW came in late and had trouble with this one, but still squeaked in at 99 :)
okay we are over a 100 solves - how about some salt on this AMAZING puzzle ;)
I should've known it was too soon for me to be doing OWWs again after the Puzzlethon. I'm just not getting it, oh well.
I've followed the maze, but it doesn't look like any letters, etc....Help
[20] I'm with you!
Step 1: Solve the maze. Step 2: Go back and look at how far you've come and just how you got there.
[23] see [13] they are there for a reason.
[24] your step 2 doesn't make any sense right now....
[24] Thanks for verifying my hunch. Didn't know that was one word!
TWW. Didn't like that.
Solved the maze...but don't c how to get letters. Salt please. TY
I was short two letters at first. Thought of the first answer a different way! Nice puzzle!
Had six correct letters and screwed up the rest somehow...:( Sheeeeesh.... I made it hard...nice one...
The blue squares are important, but they could be any color or shape......
That's enough...so many things it could be and if you even have one letter off....I guess I'll just wait for the answer tomorrow. I assume it is like 2 words combined into one...helps a little...but not enough
Still not getting anywhere. Guess it's time to step away for the night haha.
At first, I didn't think the maze was solveable...
Ok, I solved the maze & went back and looked at how far I came and just how I got there. AND????? It's a maze made of blue squares. ???!!!
edit: WHY do I bother?? I have the hardest time with OWW's. I hate them most of the time.
Me too, [34]...yet...each time I have hopes. ESPECIALLY when someone says they solved it without google...then I think "How hard can it BE???" I wish the salt was better....(I originally thought YOUR answer was salt...till I saw your edit note)
Finally got it - Just had to work at it step by step to get the answer.
[29][33][34][35] Sent you guys relatively cryptic TGs. Consider what [36] & [13] had to say too.
Thanks so much, Sonjahi! That was totally unexpected...I had logged out, but came back and got it! Thanks again!
After the puzzlethon, these are definitely quite a bit easier. I looked at it, did the maze, and said "oh, this is pretty straight-forward, isn't it?"
For anyone starting out that's got no idea how OWWs generally work-
Count and convert to letters.
My goal with this puzzle was to make it entirely selfcontained, while using no letters or numbers, but without being a cryptopix (or a one word cryptopix). Such puzzles are surprisingly rare. I was really pleased with the final image of the puzzle. It seems very clean to me.
On the other hand, this does also make the puzzle somewhat difficult to salt well. This isn't a puzzle that has all that many steps, and the steps that it does have are not that far removed from reasonably common solve methods. I do like the salt in [24].
As for the complaint about this being two words, I address that some in the solution. The answer is admittedly hyphenated, and while people may more commonly think of a similar term that is two words, the answer is in fact a single word.
[40] I think that if you are on the right track and get the letters extracted, whether you think it's two words or not, it seems to me that it should be obvious that it *has* to be the answer - otherwise you would have gotten garbage.
I thought the puzzle was very elegant. You accomplished your objective!
LOL...**2 hours, 32 minutes and 14 seconds** and were the 213rd Tanga member to solve it
Well, at least I'm starting to figure out what the usual "Tanga" solve method is. I really enjoyed being able to figure this out... With all the salt, of course! I'm also starting to enjoy these more, rather than getting really frustrated.
Shoot, I was able to get in a little over 3 minutes, but I started 3 hours after it went up.
[41] My only issue was trying to figure out if to count starting with when you change directions or right before you change directions. Luckily, it's a two second change from doing it wrong to doing it right.
I really like this elegant puzzle, and wanted to include it in the Puzzlethon... but by the time I got around to potentially including this one, it's answer word didn't have any of the letters I needed :)
Like... :)
You solved this puzzle in 6 seconds and were the 279th Tanga member to solve it.
Great puzzle... wish i had logged in earlier :)
[44] Right - and I can see that. I was responding more specifically to anyone who got the right answer but hesitated to try it out of concern that it was really two words. Maybe nobody did that. But my thought is that it only takes a sec to try what you got and see if it works! My husband is always teasing me when I don't go ahead and try potential answers. :)
[48] I tried the answer that was two letters off anyway. For me, the right answer made a lot more sense. I used to have issues putting in gibberish, but... there are so many answers that I've never even heard of, and I'm tired of not getting the answer just because I don't try it. Hehe.
Gotta love OWWs.
Phew! Finally got it. I really need to stop over thinking these...Thanks for the salt [41][44]!!!
[48] [49] I agree that you should always try anything that you think has any chance of being the correct answer, no matter how absurd it seems at first blush. There is no penalty for wrong answers, nor any limit on the number of attempts to solve the puzzle, so type it in and see what happens!
thanks, sonjahi!
