How to Play
One Word Wonders are word puzzles where the answer is exactly one word. Decipher the image below to come up with the answer. For a better idea on how to solve this puzzle view an example. If you get stuck you can ask for help in the comments section. Hints are posted 24 hours after puzzle's publish date (if provided by author).

If I have the correct 8 letter words, there is only one way they can go in this. Unfortunately, that means all of my 4 letter words are wrong (except for #*$! and @#%^)

I have the words but am not sure what to do after that.
Edit: Aha!
Fun one. I didn't get all the words, but I got enough to solve it.
i have all words save the destruction one...
[3] What do you do when you have them and fill them in the puzzle?
[6] first, read the clues more carefully, then follow the first part of the instructions.
[7] Still not seeing it
[8] Don't forget to read the title.
I did. TG help?
[10] It clicked for me when I mentally inserted a comma after the first word of the title.
The initial clues will tell you that you've done too much in one direction.
Now, take a listen to your answers - is there anything about them that relates to the first part of the title?
Yeah but how do i figure out the order?
I found that listing the clues (in order) works much better than trying to fit them in the crossword grid.
You are a freaking genius!! You solved this puzzle.
You solved this puzzle in 55 minutes and 22 seconds and were the 12th Tanga member to solve it. You earned 3 points for solving this.
Very fun!!
[13] they are already in order...
There are not any hints (I don't think) below..

I thought this puzzle was pretty good overall. That said, am I the only one that doesn't care for intentionally placed red herrings in puzzles? They tend to take what would be enjoyable puzzles for me and makes them tedious and leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
Not that anyone need care, but in my opinion, if you have a puzzle that is good enough without red herrings (and this one would have been) it may be best to leave the red herrings out.
---End Rant---
To me, it isn't really a red herring...it does provide confirmation...
I solved it much faster with the 'red herring'...
[17] I'd agree with [18]. I had to adjust my thinking to fit the mold.
I feel your pain, though. Gratuitous fish is hurtful. I didn't mind this tangent.
Hint: It's not who you think it is.
[20] The 4th word in the final clue is key.
[20] because it's wrong?
*ducks*
seriously, TG me in the next 5 minutes with your answer and I'll tell you if it is spelling or something else. (5 minutes, because then I leave work, and won't be able to check here for an hour or so)
Neat.
Finally....had some words wrong which is what threw me for a while (a long while).
Woohoo! Got it :)
In addition to the nitpicks noted by the author himself in his explanation of the answer, I would also contend that the letter in question for the 4th answer does not *really* fit the requirement....
**GASP** You mean Shakespeare was WRONG?!?!?!!??
LOL!
[27] No, read the scene and the answer above matches the stage direction and what Cinna says.
[17] I hate puzzle that depend on red herrings. I solved this one without it, pretty easily.
outstanding
just finished watching the series ROME. it helped.
