TRUE
huh?
How can I be in the top 20 on the Cryptopix and Hypercross, yet be completely lost here?
nm: p&s. Yes, I'm an idiot.
Well it's not "duh"
[3] Same here.
[3] Same way I am, I suppose. ;)
Obviously, Arnott thought it was easy since he put it on a hyper night. I don't know whether to be pleased that he was wrong or feel stupid because he's right... lol
You solved this puzzle in 3 minutes and 44 seconds and were the 15th Tanga member to solve it.
When in doubt, Tanga.
Lost too. Not seeing anything with the usual Tanga-ish substitutions
Think slang
I am completely lost. Hints anyone?
That's just downright horrible!!!
[7] has the best hint without giving it away.
Obviously it's solvable, just not for me..
edit----That WAS horrible....[11] agree
my slang not working
Got it finally. I thought of tanga-ing a while ago but [9] helped me with the middle.
[9] Thanks.
Thanks [9].
Oh, geez. I was typing in a response to [12] along the lines of "Unfortunately, I did try to Tanga. Just not the right way, apparently. And I can't figure out what to slang..." But before I could type that last sentence, the right slang word hit me and then the letters I had found 10 minutes ago fit and voila!
Nice. Simple. Elegant. Stumping. Good job. :)
[9] The font is all nice and formal. It don't lead to using the necessary slang. :)
Well, I'm glad no one was around as I tried saying aloud any "slang" term I could come up with. For some reason, [18] was the push I needed. Is it too much to say that my favorite English teacher would disapprove?
Well, I just hope the slang is not culture specific. I am still not getting it.
yay, 80!!! can't get hyper to work tho:(
[18], I followed the same path you did. And yes, this was a good job indeed.
Thanks [19]
[22] Google "telephone game" (suggested by the title), then look at the clues again.
I wasted a while trying variations and resulting words from an alternate answer that fits the solve method as well as the expected answer. *Sigh*
terrible, terrible English....bad bad bad
davidrager:
Congrats on your first puzzle, by the way. Great job!
[9] I would say it's more "non-standard" than "slang".
[11][13][18][23] Thanks. (and [28])
*groan*. thanks [9]. that helped make me 99th.
Wow -- I never would've gotten it without [9]'s slang salt. Even then, it's not a word I use, so it was way outside my thinking.
it's maths an I got 19th. what a great a-ha moment. great puzzle!
Wish I had spent time here instead of going to the hypercross.....since the hyper wasn't working properly.
[19] I think that's what put this puzzle over the top. Who'd've thought? :)
[21] Um, it is kind of culture specific. But I know where you live and if you haven't heard someone around there say it, I'd be shocked!
[28] Agreed! Great job!
I totally think this should have been "disney".
davidrager-- congrats on first puzzle! simply clever hope to see more!! thanks
wish I'd started here!! Instead of wasting time on hyper that won't open!
[33] what kind of trouble did you have on hyper?
I still can't figure out what to substitute for "not equals" I have the other puzzles done, but I am going to have to take a break from this one, and hope it comes to me later.
...Finally, got it. I just had to get away from "is not"
Funny [35], I tried Disney as well
Hold it... this is your first puzzle? Nicely done, davidrager.
OK, I think I am giving up for now. I have scratched my poor head so and all in vain. If anyone is charitable enough they can TG me some salt.
[35] I hadn't thought of that possible solution, otherwise I might have gone in that direction. It fits my hobby of riding roller coasters.
Well shewt, y'all... y'call that bad english or spellin'? Just depends on yer regional accent, ah reckon...
And yes, that is a horrible, horrible pun.
I cant get it, can anyone send me a message with the answer, this is ruining my day!
Got it : )
well it's not DIY
OMG! I just read the solution text... ha-ha... nothing like getting stumped on a puzzle that you yourself inspired! :)
Well, I guess sometimes it is easier to make puzzles like this than it is to solve them...
[43] The solution will be available for viewing after 24 hours. Come back after 7pm Pacific time and you can vuew it. I'll send a message with a hint though. :)
I certainly needed [9] and [13] to make progress.
okay, i'm still seeing Disney every time I look at this thing... and that's not taking. (and this from a guy with a southern accent, and I'm still not seeing the slang).
Grr: P&S, as I was stuck on using "math' and not language.
[29]
more like, linguistic laziness.
okay guys, I need a hint.....I guess I don't speak enough slang and I am just NOT getting anywhere here...
got it
a stinker imho
[6] FWIW, sometimes there isn't an "easy" OWW. In fact... puzzlemakers, your OWW will likely get fastracked (as fasttracked as Tanga gets) if it's simple and easy.
You solved this puzzle in 21 hours, 4 minutes and 36 seconds and were the 267th Tanga member to solve it.
Thanks, j15bell!
I was always told that second part wasn't a word. Little did my English teachers know! Although, according to Merriam-Webster, the first known usage was in 1749...
I just don't get the solution...it doesn't make sense.
