Guessing we need to know how to play this game in order to solve the puzzle?

  2. Christopher_david_ryan_-_eyeGarlickc6201 on Sep 08, 2011 07:05 PM

Missed the second 3 in there at first!

  3. Ted_doggRaspberrydmlafrance on Sep 08, 2011 07:05 PM

That was great TangaAl, thanks :)

  4. 100_1703Eggsonjahi on Sep 08, 2011 07:05 PM

Uggh! Didn't pay enough attention to that tricky little last step. :)

Very nice. I liked the first one and I liked this one even more.

  5. FileAppleCappo on Sep 08, 2011 07:08 PM

[1] Is that a real game?

  6. 100_1703Eggsonjahi on Sep 08, 2011 07:07 PM

[1] It should be fairly self explanatory. You need to fit all those tiles into place in the pattern shown, as demonstrated with the blue tiles. The vertical ones stay vertical and the horizontal ones stay horizontal.

BTW, the second down word in the solution text is listed incorrectly.

Nice puzzle. I am getting used to these.

  9. FileCheeseburgerQurqirishDragon on Sep 08, 2011 07:09 PM

I would have preferred it if the grid had a second occurrence of letter 3, rather than repeating it.

  10. FileGarlicMrPlow99 on Sep 08, 2011 07:09 PM

[2] so did i. i had the grid filled in and was thinking, "hey, that doesn't make a word, it's missing a letter." I added the missing letter back in without even noticing that the puzzle was calling for it.

Got my plum on this! Woohoo! Good night for me tonight, one of my best ever, maybe i am finally getting the hang of things?

[7]kc you have some ego correcting a puzzle TangaAl did many weeks ago. :)

  13. ErwinPepperTangaAl on Sep 08, 2011 07:11 PM

[7], thanks. I fixed it. Yeah, this is a bit tougher to do than it looks, [9]. I was looking at this yesterday one more time and thought the same thing. Still, I think it works when you look at the puzzle as a whole.

    [4], [8], thanks!

    [2][10] same here!

  15. Water_dropEggplantMrsH2Os on Sep 08, 2011 07:17 PM

Head slap! Knew how to do this and had the grid filled in early. Answer didn't take so tried a different arrangement. Didn't notice the second step at the bottom.

  16. Bp3Eggendel3 on Sep 08, 2011 07:19 PM

Hmm, got it, late, and with what appears to be a missing letter---I guess i still don't get the solve method....

edit [15] aaahhhh thanks for the 'splainin' lucy...

  17. Cutie_jillianPeppersuzique on Sep 08, 2011 07:19 PM

    Another good one TangaAl!

  18. FileAcejester747 on Sep 08, 2011 07:22 PM

    Woohoo!!! Got my rocket!
First time in a few days where I didn't need salt anywhere (was starting to think I had lost what little skill I had)
    Really cool puzzle! Thanks!

I got the answer a while back, then was scratching my head to figure out what the "Part 2" was. As the solve count reached 87, I panicked and entered my answer to the first part... only to find it was correct! Wish I had know about the "Part 2" being a reference to an earlier puzzle.

Oh, well, 88th here. Clever little word puzzle!

  20. 100_1703Eggsonjahi on Sep 08, 2011 07:24 PM

[13] I feel your pain but I also think in it's own special way, that final step was cool. We all smugly thought we knew what we were doing and were done once the "grid" was filled in. You clearly indicate that final step. It's not your fault we didn't look closely. ;)

  21. K_as_cheKiwiLordKrishna on Sep 08, 2011 07:33 PM

[20] Yeah, I agree with sonjahl, the puzzle definitely indicates that extra letter clearly enough. (After all, we're only a half-hour in and almost at 100 solves).

  22. Art_land_of_free_eagleEggplantJWillOH on Sep 08, 2011 07:53 PM

    Loved it!

  23. FileRaspberryA_Beaverhausen on Sep 08, 2011 07:59 PM

[19] Thanks for the nudge. I think that should have been left out.

  24. UturnPotatoSmithyP on Sep 08, 2011 08:36 PM

Enjoyed this one! Not sure if/how this would work as a standalone game, but if it does, I'd buy it.

  25. Stfu_fortune_cookie-12260Bananainsta1234 on Sep 09, 2011 07:37 AM

Sadly the only way i can solve these type of puzzles is to actually cut out little paper tiles.

  26. FileAppleCandaceO on Sep 09, 2011 08:15 AM

[26] LOL! I was just considering that approach....

ETA: I did in fact go there...and it totally worked!

  27. Dumb02Garlicsammydb on Sep 09, 2011 08:10 AM

    Fun One!!

  28. Sexy_lips2AceCiabelle on Sep 09, 2011 10:34 AM

[26][27] Instead of printing and cutting... I used my graphics editing program (GIMP), created layers for each tile. Then with the move tool I was able to rearrange everything just as if I had physical dominoes.. Spent more time setting that up than actually solving once I had done so..

I also missed the 2nd 3, and also was scratching my head for what to do for part 2. but decided to go with what I thought the would should have been at the end of "part 1" and was right.

EDIT: Played around with some anagrams for answers which would not have required duplicating a number.. (Not salt, just exposition) Among them: Absentee, Barometer, Boomerang, Genome, Embargoes, Sweetener, or Waterborne

  29. AnguseyeaCarrotbamar on Sep 09, 2011 12:55 PM

    Great puzzle!

  30. Clematis_around_tree_cropped_12-22-2006-011Potatokathy155 on Sep 09, 2011 05:56 PM

I had to do what [26] did, otherwise, to my brain it's just a bunch of letters. :-) Fun though!!

  31. MarkerryanCarrotryanker on Sep 09, 2011 06:00 PM

Wow, that turned out to be easier than I thought it would be. 5 min and few secs.
