This was one of 13 puzzles in our September 2011 Back To School Puzzlethon.
It is totally solvable on its own.

i loved this one!
I loved putting those skills to work!
My brain huuuuurts! Clever puzzle!
in agony, Pythagoras who? bet he was just heaps o fun!
congruent, right, theorems, hypotnus greek to me sad to say
think, thinking
okay over 111 just a tiny itty bitty miniscule grain?
This is my favorite one so far! Nice one, ryanker!
Great, I am going to ER for shunt in my head. Thanks.
[3] Yeah, I agree (with you, as usual).
[5] There's really nothing to salt here. It really is straight geometry, with a Tanga interpretation to the sides. Pythagoras was telling you how to solve sides of right triangles. Google it if you don't remember it from High School and I'm sure you'll find a good tutorial.
Erk. My brain hurts. Nice puzzle, though!
oh... duh... ok... finally got it
I like that if you tried to solve it by the numbers, the answer wasn't any of the immediately obvious ones. I kept trying answers before I solved them all thinking, "Aha, it must be this!"
[12] I am SO glad to hear you say that. There were a few words I could have used but finally decided on the one I did specifically so that it would be hard to just guess, even when you were halfway done.
[12] [13] I had the same experience. Nicely constructed ryanker!
[13] I was having too much fun solving the triangles to even bother translating the numbers until I was done. :)
Then again, when the teacher assigned the odd problems, I always did the even ones too. Just because I wanted to.
