OK, I'll say it: It's not 'potato'.

    Just can't get past "ottffs"

    edit---aha!! Nice puzzle!

[6] Then you maybe don't have the answer..?

  9. Cutie_jillianPeppersuzique on Nov 07, 2011 07:10 PM

    Lovely.

  10. FileXylophoneDavmar on Nov 07, 2011 07:11 PM

    Nice Puzzle

  11. FilePepperclarencebyer on Nov 07, 2011 07:11 PM

Now that took some thinking! Very clever indeed!

  12. FileAcejester747 on Nov 07, 2011 07:12 PM

[8] or perhaps it really IS the answer (but to something else). :-)
    I don't even have that!

  13. FileDuckiePolly_and_Austin on Nov 07, 2011 07:12 PM

Nice! I remember they gave this puzzle (the middle step) to one of the Apollo space crews. Shows my age, I guess.

You solved this puzzle in 10 minutes and 0 seconds and were the 55th Tanga member to solve it. You earned 56 points.

Duh. I almost had it about 9 1/2 minutes ago, then left to do other things when it dawned on me. Oh well, points is points.

  15. MonkeytypePepperJimboTab13 on Nov 07, 2011 07:15 PM

    Nice aha moment. Fun puzzle.

  16. Soccer_ballCheeseburgersoccer_ref on Nov 07, 2011 07:17 PM

It took a moment to realize what the missing letters represented.

  17. FileTomatobcgrote on Nov 07, 2011 07:20 PM

    Oof. Not quite 'butter'....

  18. 100_1703Eggsonjahi on Nov 07, 2011 07:20 PM

Oh, my gosh. Puzzles like this always get me. Good job, jeb. Very nice.

  19. FileEggplantDeemiklos on Nov 07, 2011 07:30 PM

Okay, I know what the foursome is? Can't figure out how to make them fast.

  20. Nick_dress_blues_2Pancakesbitwisenot on Nov 07, 2011 07:34 PM

[19] Try a wash, rinse, *reverse* methodology.

  21. Soccer_ballCheeseburgersoccer_ref on Nov 07, 2011 08:12 PM

[19] They don't need to be fast. If you know what they are and you don't know the answer, then you probably don't have the correct foursome.

  22. FileGarlicclassicalguy on Nov 07, 2011 07:34 PM

    Does air mail still exist?

  23. Soccer_ballCheeseburgersoccer_ref on Nov 07, 2011 07:36 PM

    [22] NO.

Edit: Well, not what we meant by "air mail". Most of the mail is moved via airplane now, but there is no such thing as "air mail rate" any longer.

Nor is there any "special delivery".

  24. FileCarrotcoupongrl77 on Nov 07, 2011 07:38 PM

Well dang, this is just not my night!

  25. FilePotatojmsmith2434 on Nov 07, 2011 07:40 PM

    Totally lost on this one

  26. FileGarlicclassicalguy on Nov 07, 2011 07:41 PM

[23] Too bad. I remember when the Post Office could make money. Something to do with service...

  27. Panda-flyGarlicpandapal on Nov 07, 2011 07:49 PM

    Very clever!!! :-)

  28. FileEggplantDeemiklos on Nov 07, 2011 07:49 PM

[23] sent you a tg. I'm really stuck tonight. Rarely have this much trouble.

  29. FileApplegossamerica on Nov 07, 2011 08:03 PM

Oddly, somebody at work posted a "basic" version of this brain teaser today.

  30. FileDuckiePatanga on Nov 07, 2011 09:12 PM

What a great puzzle....but I got here really late tonight. (not salt)

  31. UntitledPotatoBenditlikebaker on Nov 08, 2011 05:40 AM

    Salt Pleaseeeeee. I have [7]

  32. 100_1703Eggsonjahi on Nov 08, 2011 06:38 AM

[31] When I was at the point [7] was at, pondering [16] was what got me there. I really don't think anyone can say more without giving it all away. So think about what those letters could represent.

  33. FileBananasnowboarder579 on Nov 08, 2011 10:21 AM

I was with [7] and couldn't get off "ottffs" and I too had an "aha" moment. Great puzzle

  34. MarkerryanCarrotryanker on Nov 08, 2011 12:02 PM

1 min 36 sec. I could have been in the top 100 if I'd been here last night. :-)

I got step 2 quickly enough but then took a disappointingly long time to read the directions to get step 3. (Ahhh... "ollowing").

  35. Avatar_profileApplekitabuck on Nov 08, 2011 12:04 PM

Can someone please TG me some salt? I have tried everything I can think of to no avail! I have tried using the numerical value of the missing letter, the letters "following" the missing letter, the "four" ellipses following the statement. I am running out of ideas!

  36. 100_1703Eggsonjahi on Nov 08, 2011 02:12 PM

[35] You need to concentrate on the missing letters themselves. They represent something else. Once you see what they are, I think you'll know what they are.

For example, if I had the letters MTWTFSS, you'd know what those are, right? Similar thing here.

  37. Clematis_around_tree_cropped_12-22-2006-011Potatokathy155 on Nov 08, 2011 05:14 PM

    Thank you [36] !!

  38. FilePotatoGinnyjulie on Nov 08, 2011 05:37 PM

I finally figured out what the missing numbers represent. Now what? What I thought would come next is not the answer.

  39. Avatar_profileSailboatastrosan on Nov 08, 2011 06:29 PM

    Thank you [36]

  40. 100_1703Eggsonjahi on Nov 08, 2011 06:58 PM

[38] What does the solve method tell you to do? Do it in the same manner as those missing letters.

  41. FileCarrotbaristabob on Nov 09, 2011 05:29 AM

    Well Done!
