3rd!
I spent a lot of time determining the name of each cookie....
I love the note included with the solution.
Cute story, too. Well done, scouts :)
[2] I assume your work gave you an "answer" :-)
[2] I did the same thing, which was especially frustrating as some of them have different names in different regions, or names that have been retired.
[5] As a matter of fact, I think you're right.
[6] Yes, my wife was explaining that to me as I did my research.
Ok, I love the write-up! The story behind this is great. Those girls are already learning the frustrations inherent in puzzlemaking!
I've got to say, I was starting to get really irritated with the mods for letting this through with boxes that I couldn't make out. Then I went to the hyper and came back. And figured out what I was doing wrong.
[6] Yeah, I know the far left cookie goes by 2 names, both current depending on which troop you're buying from. They're also by far my favorite.
Hmm, I think this would make a good Random Question... "What's your favorite girl scout cookie?"
yummy puzzle! thanks SuperSlug.
...And Nice avatar too!
43 seconds! Nice job, girl scouts!! :)
[2] blah! ...did the same thing...
Nicely done - I sure did over-complicate it and missed out on bonus points!
Like [8], I enjoyed the writeup. Funny how something so simple can be overlooked. Chased the wrong paths looking for the cookie names. Then the a-ha! Great puzzle after all!
[14] Thanks, I was following you around!
Nice puzzle after I figured the a-ha moment!!
[15] I was hoping this was an OWW that you could solve.
[2] I see where you were going, since that was how I overcomplicated it to begin with too too. But the first stack has 8 boxes of what are "obviously" Samoas, which has only 6 letters.
Let's see... are those Animals Treasures in the third stack?
Luckily I there are htree girl scout parents in my office, so I can spread out my purchases and not look like a complete pig to a single person. In a normal year, I usually total 3 Thin Mints, 1 Samoa, 2 Tagalongs and 1 or 2 Trefoils. Mmmm... two trefoils and a cup of coffee... wonderful. The All Abouts (shortbread cookie with chocolate on one side were even better, but alas, they they seem to have been retired. I certainly wouldn't turn down a do-si-do, but I already get my peanut butter fix from the tagalongs.
I hate to say it, but I just never really liked the dulce-de-leche.
And hey, where are the Thank You Berry Muches?
[16] I'm glad you hoped....................
[17] Thank U Berry Munch is the box 3rd from the left (dark pink box).
[19] When I looked up the cookies (on this one site) I thought that was called Shout Outs! Very appropriate for this site!!
Why do I always make it harder than it is?
Yum, tagalongs and do-si-dos. Love those peanut butter cookies.
Very fun puzzle Scouts!
[17] Yes, you're right, except ....
During my research I discovered that the Samoas are also known as Caramel deLites, which has more than 8 letters, so my method continued. (According to my wife, the longer name was added because there was a fear that some might consider "Samoas" to be offensive. She couldn't remember the details, and I'd like to think that she's mistaken. But the point remains that those cookies have a name that supports a stack of 8 boxes.)
Another deleted comment again! Whatever Spam Filter!!
[19] The site I was on also called that a Shout Out!
53 seconds...that's good for me.
great job troop! I will sew all your patches on! But since I can't be wherever you are, I'll name Super Slug as my proxy!
This is the first puzzle I have ever gotten on the first guess. My experience as a Girl Scout Leader paid off. Ha!
Yep. I made this much more difficult than it is. Cute story... hope ths Scouts get to see it published! Congrats!
Awesome puzzle. Before reading the story, I thought one household had all these cookies. Thanks for teaching the girls about letter numbers.
Sweet! In several ways.
I tried to make it harder than it was, too...which is kind of funny because the clue on the puzzle immediately triggered the correct answer in my head.
[23] Yep! I learned about "Caramel Delites" while looking for a new name since *obviously* Samoas wouldn't work! lol
Way over thought this one.
I am a victim of helping my kids with fundraisers... I had no problem figuring out what their leader took home.
