How to Play
One Word Wonders are word puzzles where the answer is exactly one word. Decipher the image below to come up with the answer. For a better idea on how to solve this puzzle view an example. If you get stuck you can ask for help in the comments section. Hints are posted 24 hours after puzzle's publish date (if provided by author).

This puzzle is not entirely self-contained. You'll need outside information for the final step.
"eleven" is not correct. Well, there goes MY first instinct!
You got me on this one. I am lost.
I can tell you what else it is not.
Look at my tanga fruit
[2] it's not "spinal" either (-:
well it's not "kohlai", so I just don't have a clue...
edit Well, had a clue..just not the right one..[6] Thanks
well....in a difference in opinion to the puzzle author..... my first instinct is not getting me an answer
EDIT: Got it....it is FIRST....but probably not in the same way the author wants us to use to solve the puzzle
I don't know about my first instinct, but my second was 'this isn't as easy as it looks'
[7] Ah, but it's not as hard as it looks, either . . .
Woo Hoo! 1st!!! It's been a while since I've gotten one of those.
after all the math and counting that I did... wiki solved it for me. I didn't even need to do this supposed first step
BUT NOW I AM A BANANA! :)
If you get an answer that SHOULD (according to the instructions) be the answer, don't discard it. Make sure you use it for step 2 (see comment #1).
color me #7!!!
[9] Congratulations!
Yay 20th - my first top 100 on a OWW. I didn't realize I was looking right at "the answer" all along!
[13] Thanks!
I'm just not getting this one.
EDIT: Got it. Like [6], I got it in a way the author didn't intend.
[16] The results of step 1 will most likely make no sense. Google is your friend for this puzzle.
I have the numbers involved, but have NO idea what to do with them. They're large and involved....
[18] No numbers. Not really, anyway.
[18] you aren't looking for a large number.... but you are looking for an unusual one.
[17] Thanks. That did it.
53rd, but it drove me "nuts."
[17] Thank you!!
This puzzle put a hex on me for the longest time, but finally I got it.
Thanks, Philana!
[22] You're not alone. Sometimes we feel like one, sometimes we don't. Huh?
Nice one, Philana!
I'm about to give up on these OWWs.
Oh....why didn't I try that a half hour ago......learned something. Thanks.
Wow - showed up more than half an hour late, and still in time to get 77th and some bonus points. Interesting puzzle.
On a side note, Happy Veteran's Day all!
Wow. Not self-contained, logic leaps AND specialized knowledge.
Is it a coincidence that I got this a completely different way than the solution provided?
[28] Thanks. Had a good day. Sang at Veteran's Day services and then got treated to lunch at the American Legion. Knew my years of service would eventually pay off. LOL
Hope your Veteran's Day was good too.
I found out the color composition, year of introduction and all that - to no avail. My "first instinct" is to go to bed.
Color me stupid...
Surely it's time for some serious salt?
For those still struggling, some good salt in [24] and [17].
And the wording of the instructions at the top of the puzzle is (as it should be) important.
Additionally, [19] might be a little misleading and I personally disagree with [20]. I don't find anything at all unusual about it. But then, I have perhaps a different background than most.
[33] There already is a lot of salt if you read carefully. If you want more send me a TG.
btw, Philana - methinks you have too much time on your hands (and I can see now where all your points
are coming from). Wouldn't it be better if you cured cancer or something? Actually, your puzzles are great;
I am just very frustrated at the moment...
[30] I don't think so. There's a word in the title that could be interpreted in a way that allows you to completely circumvent the first step.
[37] That one word plus wiki is the way I got it. I would still be lost if I didn't figure that one out. I thought 'this couldn't be correct, but let me try'. BINGO!
105.....in my best Maxwell Smart voice... "Missed it by THAT much"
[10] Just like the old PSA on Saturday mornings. Congrats!
Also commercially speaking, [22] had the best salt for the non-tech route of the solution.
I like you, put wasn't crazy about your puzzle. Too hard for me
Puzzles like this are absolutely no fun
Nice one! Like you said, go with your first instinct.
....then google what you got....
Okay. I only got that because I've done web programming. Without that specialized knowledge, I'm not sure how I ever would be expected to solve this.
2 Steps: 1) Get what seems like Gibberish 2) Google aforementioned Gibberish
this one will drive you nuts, and I agree, google gibberish...ty [45]
I have the numbers, I have the concept (I think) but I can't find anything that works? TG anyone? Thanks.
I got it at last. I guessed but I got it. I didn't get it the way the author explained it at all though.
[45] gets my vote for the best salt ever!!! And thanks, that did it for me XD
You solved this puzzle in 20 hours, 33 minutes and 6 seconds and were the 181st Tanga member to solve it.
Better late than never! Thank You [45]
I think comment 25 is too salty. I barely looked at the puzzle and got it from that comment alone.
