  2. Christopher_david_ryan_-_eyeGarlickc6201 on Jan 13, 2012 07:07 PM

I can't figure out what sort of puzzle it is.

[1] Is there an old one like this you can share with those of us who have no clue?

  4. FileOnionquantamm on Jan 13, 2012 07:08 PM

Nice, too bad my brain is slow tonight.

    hmmm, no clue....still

  11. FileKiwiPoisonIvy213 on Jan 13, 2012 07:16 PM

tried a few things......not making any sense, though

edit: guess what I was doing worked after all, just needed to change my perspective.

according to what I can tell, the first row of blue is incorrect. There should not be the third tallest building.

    Nice one - quite clever!

  14. FileRocketscottolmsted on Jan 13, 2012 07:16 PM

Unless you are supposed to assume that you just cant see the third and that's a fourth, but it would have been less confusing to just have two buildings.

  15. FilePepperarmyknife on Jan 13, 2012 07:18 PM

    Thanks guys!

    [12] [14] I think blue's correct..

  16. CheemaEggcheema on Jan 13, 2012 07:20 PM

    Very nicely done.

[3][10] (each square on the grid is a building - the colors show from which direction your are viewing)

  17. FileDuckiePatanga on Jan 13, 2012 07:20 PM

That's pretty much what I got too.

  18. FilePancakesbrupop on Jan 13, 2012 07:20 PM

Nice puzzle AK, it was spatial :)

  19. TimpaniPepperdjschwartz on Jan 13, 2012 07:22 PM

I hope there's documentation on this fact - I had to make several guesses

  20. Avatar_profilePeachteachergal02 on Jan 13, 2012 07:27 PM

OMG! Made it under 100 on luck alone. I pieced together the only two visible words in the puzzle, then tried to tie them together with the title. It was a stretch, but it worked!

  21. UturnPotatoSmithyP on Jan 13, 2012 07:28 PM

Knowing what to do and actually doing it were opposite ends of timeline for me. Managed to get the last bonus point at #100!

    102 :(

  23. FilePlumMCGBishop on Jan 13, 2012 07:30 PM

Just tried two very complex ways of solving this... and got CIWKYTY...

  24. Christopher_david_ryan_-_eyeGarlickc6201 on Jan 13, 2012 07:31 PM

Pretty easy once you know what you're supposed to do. You don't even need the green part until the last line.

  25. Christopher_david_ryan_-_eyeGarlickc6201 on Jan 13, 2012 07:33 PM

[17] has the best salt. Not sure how long it would have taken me if it wasn't for that.

  26. Avatar_smallOnionidontkn1 on Jan 13, 2012 09:56 PM

Probably my favorite puzzle I've ever done here. Grea job AK.

  27. FilePlumlordebon on Jan 13, 2012 10:06 PM

Very fun puzzle. Only wish I'd gotten here when it went up :D

If anyone gets on and feels generous please TG me some salt on this one, I am still lost.

  29. Obamas_elfSailboatObamas_Elf on Jan 14, 2012 06:47 AM

I really liked this. However, I only got this because I'd seen this type of puzzle before. Note to puzzlemakers: If you make a OWW from a standard type of puzzle like this, at least include a link in comment #1 to a site explaining the puzzle in detail. Otherwise, it's very frustrating having to figure out how the puzzle works, and then having to figure out the OWW hook.

  30. FilePepperarmyknife on Jan 14, 2012 10:50 AM

[30], I didnt expect anyone to have necessarily seen this type of puzzle before (I honestly don't know that I've seen many, if any).

In case anyone is stuck and feels similarly, the title was meant to give you a clue as to what the pictures meant ("skylines") and the note in the bottom right of the puzzle image is explicit information on what the numbers mean. It's the solvers job here to figure out how the skylines match up, what to do with the building heights, and how to figure out "step two", since this is Tanga, after all.

I don't want anyone to feel at a significant disadvantage for not having seen something similar before. I agree that that's not how tanga should work.

[31] FWIW, I think this puzzle stands on its own just fine. I've never seen this type of puzzle before but you provided enough information for me to figure out what to do.
