This looks like some WoW or other game crap I have no clue about....
huh? what is this a reference to?
edit: the puzzle itself actually isn't that difficult, even if you have no idea what it's referring to
I am just as lost..
[1] agreed. I'm not even going to try. Hate this one.
Edit: Apologies for the negative comment. Bad day.
I came back today in a better mood and I'm still lost.
My brain just glazes over when I try to solve this one.
[1] Nope, no WoW.
[2] No external references - it's self-contained.
Is it.. LOST?!
[4] Sorry to hear that.
Glad I knew the word- I was able to guess after figuring out the first 3 letters. (of course, most of the work was done by then, but...)
Where to start?
I thought I was on a roll for a minute there..............THOUGHT!
Oh, I really liked this one!!!
[9] That's what I'm trying to figure out. I've got too many unknowns in my equations... Hmmm... Do I need to use the thing in the upper right hand corner or is that just decoration? That's my current pondering.
You don't need to know any game to understand this puzzle. It is completely self-contained and, honestly, well put-together. (And a beautiful composition, to boot.) If you're eschewing it simply because you think you might need outside knowledge about a game you don't like, you're really missing out.
[13] I agree it's beautifully constructed and I assumed from the beginning it was self-contained. I'm definitely not giving up on it - not sure how anyone could after staring at it for all of 3 minutes. I'm just waiting for my a-ha to hit! :)
Are these images/things from some game? (Solved without knowing that -- it is self-contained. Just curious.)
[12] Yes. (Use the thing in the top right)
I have to say that I enjoyed this one. Had to go back to the drawing board a few times because I miscalculated. Agree with [13] that it is very well "put-together."
[16] Yeah, I finally figured that out. :) Guess I should have refreshed comments sooner...
Nice job, hwango! I enjoyed it.
[15] - Nope, they're not from any other game, they're all original just for the puzzle.
Really enjoyed this puzzle. Shocked at the close-mindedness of the early commenters.
[11], [13], [17], [18], [20] - Thanks, I'm relieved to see that some people are enjoying it and/or liked the visuals. I was getting worried after those first few responses.
Nice puzzle. For those who are struggling, "well put-together" is salt.
I'm so looking forward to the day I can look at a puzzle like this and know where to start. You'd think after 3 months, I'd have an idea. This is at least pretty to stare at. Lol
Wow, really well done, hwango! I thoroughly enjoyed this, despite a couple miscalculations. :)
[23] - I'm glad it's pretty, at least. = )
A well-made puzzle, indeed. And the video-game artwork is spectacular.
3 miscalculations and 38 minutes later I finally got it. YAY
[27] Hooray for persistence! Congrats - looks like you still made in the first 100.
[28] yes a very challenging puzzle but i don't back down from a challenge. Though I usually don't make top 100 since I get here late.
Toughie - but still nice!
Bravo, bravo! An excellent puzzle -- no real hard tricks to it, just have to recognize the key symbol in the puzzle.
Love the graphics too. Where they something you made hwango?
[31] - Glad you liked it! Yes, I made all the components and the background.
Beautiful puzzle, but still very much lost. Any salt would be appreciated.
[23] Ginny, when you're stuck and/or frustrated, you're probably *more* likely to assume that there are a LOT of other people here who just breeze through these puzzles. I guarantee you that even the "top" solvers here will, from time to time, look at a OWW and have no idea where to start.
It definitely happens to me, anyway.
THE SALTIEST OF SALTS
That big shield-ish-looking thing in the top right corner... I bet that would an interesting thing to try and piece together. If only there were some sort of blueprints for it, telling you what parts you might need.
(By the way, Sonjahi, I wasn't directing my comment at you, even though it followed yours. I was more looking at some of the earlier comments where people seemed unhappy because they thought they needed information about some game or other in order to solve.)
I didn't have time to do this earlier; I guess it's just as well. I had the basic concept but it took me a while to tanga it, if you know what I mean.
The graphics were a little daunting. They're hwangtastic.
Very cool puzzle. Looks so complicated at first, but it's really not. I had the wrong number of efulgent gems, but was able to figure out the right word. Even after reading the solution text it took me a bit to figure out where I went wrong, but that was probably due to my tiredness, not the clarity of the text. Good job!
Nicely done.
([35] I knew you weren't, dajagr. I was just agreeing with you while expressing my continued puzzlement. :)
Very cool puzzle!
You solved this puzzle in 14 minutes and 51 seconds and were the 195th Tanga member to solve it.
You earned 10 points for solving this.
I have been staring at this since yesterday.. just had a breakthrough.. or so i thought. and it turned out to not work. Someone help me please! :(
[42] - TG sent.
