Hah! With a quick cypto and oww tonight, I really should've started with the OWW
Fun one!
[1] I dunno, it seems like whichever one you start with still takes a minute to accept the answer.
[2] I think many people use separate tabs or windows for different puzzles so they don't have to wait for the answer to accept to start another puzzle.
[3] I do that. All I meant is that when you type in your answer and it takes a while to accept it, that can sometimes add onto your time. It can also take a while for the pages to load in the first place, so I usually try to solve the crypto from the thumbnail on the past puzzles page. Usually doesn't help me much though. I guess other people have faster computers and connections.
I'm sure this is pretty easy for most but I always have a hard time figuring out how to start on OWW. Anyone wanna give me a little hint on what I'm missing here?
Having just watched the Super Bowl, my first guess was wrong. :( Google to the rescue!
I would like to comment that the answer is not an actual word.
Ah I got it finally. Duh!!!
So that's a word now?
Very well clued, but not a word...
[7][9][10] We've had a few OWWs in the past with answers along these lines. Whaddaya think? Acceptable? Or should we just say no?
Thats not the answer I grew up with.
[11] You know my opinion on this but I'll state it here anyway. I think well-known acronyms, slang terms, people's names, etc. ought to be fine. I don't think it should have to be a WORD that you find in the dictionary.
[13] I don't disagree (obviously, since I featured this). I think they have the potential to be fun, which is why I have no problem with them.
But not using these "words" loses us essentially nothing. I mean the pool of "real" single words is so huge that I'd also be fine with making these unFeaturable if they really bothered enough people.
I'm guessing any non-word answer would likely get comments to that effect fairly quickly. I tend to think non-words could get into fairly iffy territory. I already tend to turn off when it looks like a puzzle is just a bunch of pop-culture references. That said, I had no difficulty with this one, even if due to lack of interest, I didn't hear the outcome of whatever game was on TV this weekend untill the radio news covered it on my way to work Monday.
My husband and I disagreed over answer. I told him he could not be correct because he came up with an acronym not a word. I insisted it had to be a word. He asked me just to try it and turned out to be the correct answer. I totally think acronyms should not be allowed. Just my opinion.
Yea! I finally got one of these!
I has never even tried one of these before, but I thought it was about time to start. It reminded me of those pictures with a hidden 3-D object. Until you see it yourself, you don't know what everyone's talking about. Now that I've gotten one, I'll have to keep doing these. Fun!
