Of course, I sometimes joke about this- make the last word possessive, and add on "really large ears"
TG me if you want to know why...
My load was a little slow, but 28 seconds = 80th? Dang, people were fast tonight.
I never leaned this phrase.
Never heard of the phrase either
Never heard of it before
Haven't ever heard of this before...but I ended up with my sailboat tonight....so all is good.
[3][4] If you haven't, you must be youngsters. All of us older folks learned that rule early and often. Of course, we didn't have calculators or computers, we had to do it by hand, so needed to know the rule.
[6] Bzzzzz wrong....I'm in my 50s....never heard of it.
[7] So am I. And we learned this in 5th or 6th grade.
[3] [7] I'm in your club - I'm not quite 50 but still have never heard of it until now. Guess I just learned the methodology the old fashioned way - pure unadulterated understanding of the fundamental principles. ;-)
You solved this puzzle in 15 seconds and were the 5th Tanga member to solve it.
You earned 106 points for solving this.
=) ... but never heard of it before...
I was told there wasn't going to be any Math in the Cryptopii!
Nice one, Al. ;)
I never learned this in school, but I use this when explaining Excel!
I did learn this in school but it came more part of my lexicon due to having a drunk in the family who happened to be my Aunt Sally. She was fun to watch at parties!!
That was a cool puzzle....
Kudo's to you Tanga Al.......
That took me back a bit.. it's been a while since I've heard that saying. :D Cute puzzle.
[9] I'm about 10 years older than you; I've never heard of it either and I have a BS in Mathematics.
Maybe it's a regional thing. I'm 30 and learned that one early on, around 5th grade I believe.
Never heard this either, but the puzzle was really fun!
Math majors in their 60's never heard it either.
What are all these old people doing on the Internet? Why, when I was a kid... oh... nevermind.
[6] I have degrees in math, taught math, am old, and never heard of it. But hey, I like it. And to think I spent all those years memorizing My Very Energetic Mother Jumped Suddenly Upon North Pole -- only to have that tossed aside. I shoulda used those brain cells to memorize the puzzle answer instead.
nice one
[21] I thought your very eager mother just served up nine pizzas?
I think what the ref forgot was that while we all surely learned the thing behind the mnemonic, that doesn't mean we all learned the same mnemonic she did or that we necessarily learned one at all. I think I learned this mnemonic, but don't know for sure. The order wasn't hard for me to remember without it. And, of course, [16]&[21], this is something that, if taught, would have been taught to young children. I'd wager all universities would expect their math majors to already know the order and thus not need to be taught the mnemonic.
