Wow. How am I supposed to answer the door to all these trick-or-treaters AND wade through all of this?

I got both jobs done. Good puzzle.

  2. 100_1703Eggsonjahi on Oct 31, 2011 07:07 PM

    Woo-hoo! What a fun ride!!

Somewhere on the first line I realized I better start writing stuff down. Then I tried what I got. THEN I got it right (even spelled it right). Over 2 minutes and got 11th. Wow! :) What's really funny is that I just told someone that this type of solve method for a crypto is really more of a multi-word wonder and probably wouldn't fly. And maybe it wouldn't on a regular night but it seems so appropriate for Trick or Treat night!

This was very tedious, which allowed me to get 28th place.

  4. FileEggplanthankescu on Oct 31, 2011 07:08 PM

Why did I wait so long to try that? Dang.

  5. Christopher_david_ryan_-_eyeGarlickc6201 on Oct 31, 2011 07:09 PM

I kept making mistakes though...I even misread the doggie's tail as a subtraction sign!

  6. FileEggplantDeemiklos on Oct 31, 2011 07:09 PM

got the answer but it's not taking. do I need the second step? if so, who is it, anyway?

  7. Christopher_david_ryan_-_eyeGarlickc6201 on Oct 31, 2011 07:10 PM

    [6] Try Google.

  8. 100_1703Eggsonjahi on Oct 31, 2011 07:10 PM

    [6] Google is your friend.

  9. Avatar_profileStrawberryUrmom on Oct 31, 2011 07:20 PM

What's up with the spelling? I have the answer but I can't get it to take.
Didn't realize there was an additional step :-( cost me top 100.

Lots of tricks tonight. Where are the treats?!

    Nicely clued :)

  11. Panda-flyGarlicpandapal on Oct 31, 2011 07:11 PM

    Great cluing! Very nice!

  12. Avatar_profilePlumcdavidw on Oct 31, 2011 07:11 PM

At first I thought this puzzle sucked. Then I went back and wrote everything out and realized it was great clue-ing. Thanks!

  13. ErwinPepperTangaAl on Oct 31, 2011 07:12 PM

    This was NICE!

  14. 6-9-06Xylophonehouck on Oct 31, 2011 07:14 PM

Fun change of pace, coupongirl.....I gave up and did the hyper and then came back

  15. FileBananadanjuwise1 on Oct 31, 2011 07:17 PM

Gah, ive figured it out but I cant find out what to put in there.

  16. 100_1703Eggsonjahi on Oct 31, 2011 07:17 PM

[9] Are you trying to spell what you decoded? If so, you need to perform another step because that's not the answer. If you've performed the second step, see [7] or [8].

  17. FileCarrotTL3 on Oct 31, 2011 07:20 PM

    Not a true Cryptopix

  18. FileEggplantDeemiklos on Oct 31, 2011 07:24 PM

[7] [8] [10] tried google, but getting lots of random answers regardless of whether I look at the movie, the legend, or the game. Frustrating.

nvm: finally found it--should have remembered that from school (about a million years ago).

  19. 100_1703Eggsonjahi on Oct 31, 2011 07:26 PM

[18] Well, it all started with a book. And the answer is the main character of that book. I'll send you a TG with the name of the actor that played him in the movie (really big name for anyone that sees this later and wish they had my TG). I tried Google, just to see, and it is actually a little hard to dig up if you aren't already familiar with the answer.

[17] True. But days like Halloween and April Fool's Day, things can get a little loose around here. ;)

  20. Avatar_profilePeachdihughes57 on Oct 31, 2011 07:24 PM

thanks [6] for bumping my thinking!

  21. FileEggplantDeemiklos on Oct 31, 2011 07:26 PM

[20] you're welcome. Glad I could help someone else. It took me long enough!

  22. Mad_scientist_caricatureEggbrausm on Oct 31, 2011 07:27 PM

[17] next up: OWWs with two word answers....

  23. FileCarrotTL3 on Oct 31, 2011 07:28 PM

The "F minus, greater than K" made no sense to me. Finally realized that's supposed to look like an arrow. Would have preferred an actual arrow, or even an =.

  24. FileAcephoneman on Oct 31, 2011 07:29 PM

Tried short cuts, didn't work, had to write everything out and still needed Google..
Nice one.. looking forward to the next.

  25. FileCarrotcoupongrl77 on Oct 31, 2011 07:32 PM

[23] good point, I'll keep that in mind.

  26. FileBanana19brian67 on Oct 31, 2011 07:42 PM

How is this still a cryptopix?

  27. FractalTomatodduensing on Oct 31, 2011 07:48 PM

this is NOT a cryptopix....it is a TWO WORD WONDER puzzle

  28. MarkerryanCarrotryanker on Oct 31, 2011 08:04 PM

This isn't a Cryptopix -- it's a TWW. Bah. However, I _do_ agree that it's very nicely clued for Halloween.

Edit: I see that in the time it took me to solve and comment, others prepeated my comment.

  29. 100_1703Eggsonjahi on Oct 31, 2011 08:27 PM

[28] And here I thought you were saying "Bah!" at [27], not the puzzle! lol

  30. A3319BananaKatieBabes on Oct 31, 2011 08:31 PM

This can't really be a cryptopix can it? This is not how they are typically clued.

  31. Phi3CornPhilana on Oct 31, 2011 08:35 PM

    [30] No, it's not a cryptopix.

  32. FileGarlicdharmaRN on Oct 31, 2011 08:41 PM

It is a cryptopix to get the 'Question'.... (and the cluing fun is a Treat!).... with a second step for the 'Answer', thus the Trick. Yes, unusal, but fun IMHO.

  33. FileSailboatdagibbs on Oct 31, 2011 09:05 PM

Not your regular cryptopix. Seems appropriate, though, for a "trick". Wonder if the OWW will be a "treat". ;)

  34. FilePlumTracer on Oct 31, 2011 09:23 PM

    [28] "prepeat" I love it!

And I don't know... it says Cryptopix at the top of the page... so this must be a Cryptopix, right?

  36. FileCarrotleftyleo on Nov 01, 2011 04:59 AM

I see "Cryptopix" at the top .. no reason it cant have a second step .. but it through me off at first too, no biggie.for me.. it was fun !

  37. FileCarrotleftyleo on Nov 01, 2011 05:00 AM

[32] thats the 'spirit' !! lol

  40. Strat_150x150Rocketjcqueen on Nov 01, 2011 08:16 AM

I liked it. Yes, this WAS a Cryptopix. We just had to take another step to get to the solution. It was a fun trail to follow.

  41. Avatar_profilePearadrianfly on Nov 01, 2011 08:39 AM

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet, this is my second solved puzzle and I love it!

  42. ScottOnionoberjt on Nov 01, 2011 09:26 AM

Wow, I really got stuck on this, believing it to be a OWW. No matter how hard I tried, my answer word would NOT take. NOT a OWW, NOT a OWW.... :P

  43. Tanga_shadow_goat_2-fpAceshiella on Nov 01, 2011 10:01 AM

iffy, because he wasn't a true [last word] more of a target I mean all the other [last word] are dead ; he's not
I did like the movie cause he[answer] was a good deal handsomer than I envisioned from the reading lol

  44. 100_1703Eggsonjahi on Nov 01, 2011 10:05 AM

[43] Definitely cuter than the illustrations in the book I read in school. :)

  45. FileCarrotcoupongrl77 on Nov 01, 2011 12:06 PM

[43][44], I agree, watching him was a real 'treat'! ;)

  46. Avatar_profileApplelvetter on Nov 01, 2011 07:14 PM

I know I have the correct answer and it will not take it.

  47. FileCarrotcoupongrl77 on Nov 01, 2011 08:24 PM

    [46] TG sent.

  48. FilePlumreverendc on Nov 01, 2011 09:29 PM

Um. It was my understanding that there would be no math.
