When I was in high school, my desk in German class was next to a second chalk board located along the side wall. During Frau DeLong's lecture, I would draw pictures of a white horse on the blackboard. One day she caught me and asked me to describe my drawing in German in front of the class. I told her that I had drawn a "weiss pferd" and the nickname stuck!
