You're plenty smart to hang around here!
You just need to want to have some fun, and stretch your mind a little... only as much as you want.
There are a lot of puzzles (probably most) that I've needed a little "salt" for - sometimes a whole truckload. Keep in mind that the puzzles are done by amateurs for the most part, and as such can be pretty tough just because they are done by amateurs, and can be pretty obscure.
Don't be afraid to ask for help in the blog. There are a LOT of helpful people here, and you'll get your chance to help others too (I call it puzzle Karma).
Dive in, and don't be shy.
