Once the air is out if you seal the bag properly they work great. Tip as your squeezing the air out hold the zipper tucked so it can't blow the zipper out. Put the cap on after the air is out.

Since a picture is worth 1000 words, you will see the pictures tied to my review that illustrate Before & After using a space saver bag for my sleeping bag, when compared to a 5 gallon water cooler jug. I have utilize the ziploc brand space saving bags and I find them to lose their staying power over time fairly quickly, serving little purpose as a space saving bag, and better suited as simply a storage bag with a useless valve. What I like about the space saver bags is the fact that the cap actually screws on to help hold the air out and that they include a hand pump to suck the air out, which is infinitely beneficial if you decide to use these for travel so you can still utilize them in a hotel room, or similar scenario, where you might not have access to a vacuum. Time will tell if they hold up better than the ziploc bags as far as their staying power but my initial observations are that they feel like they are higher quality and they are certainly more useful simply because of the hand pump.

These are the perfect size to store squishmallows up to 16”. I like to rotate mine seasonally so this will help maintain quality!

Vacuum storage bags are so good. I used them to store a king duvet and down pillow inserts. They are large in size and hold a lot. Also easy to use. I’ll be purchasing more.
