Burton Holmes (1870-1958) was an intrepid American explorer, crisscrossing the globe photographing and filming foreign cultures, and coining the term “travelogue.” He lectured widely, catering to the armchair traveler, and eventually Hollywood came knocking. In this travel short, Holmes spotlights the Ainu, indigenous people of Japan and Russia.
