What is Shea Butter
Shea butter is a popular ingredient in many cosmetics, but in itself it is an excellent care product. There is probably no other such multifunctional cosmetic. Here are the uses and properties of pure shea butter that not everyone knows about.
Shea butter (also called karit© butter in French) is a vegetable oil derived from the seeds of the African Shea Parka tree. The tree grows in central and western Africa. There, this oil is used both in the kitchen and in cosmetics. We are interested in cosmetic use.

In creams and body lotions you will find this ingredient under the name Butyrospermum parkii . If it appears at the top of the ingredients list, shea butter is the base for your cream or lotion. This is a good sign, because shea butter is a great healthy alternative to paraffinum liquidum – a petroleum derivative that often forms the basis of creams.

If we find shea butter at the end of the list of ingredients, it means that the manufacturer treated this ingredient as a small addition to the product. Perhaps he even boasted on the packaging that the cosmetic contains fantastic, nourishing and moisturizing shea butter, but this should not be believed. Because there is very little of it in the cream, so our skin will not feel all of its miraculous properties.

Properties of shea butter
Shea butter contains a lot of vitamins A and E. It has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. It also acts as a natural sunscreen (SPF 6-10 protection). It has anti-wrinkle properties, stimulates collagen production , nourishes the skin, and at the same time does not clog pores. It has a solid consistency, but melts quickly in the hands, making it easy to apply.

The use of shea butter
Shea butter has many uses. We can use it as:

- lip balm – ideal for chapped and dry lips , at the same time providing protection against sun and frost;
- stretch marks cream – makes the skin more elastic, perfect for a growing pregnancy belly;
- nourishing foot balm – removes callous epidermis, perfectly heals cracked heels;
- shaving cream for delicate skin – does not cause irritation, at the same time moisturizes, does not clog pores, thus eliminating the risk of inflammation of the hair follicles and ingrown hair;
- diaper rash cream – suitable for the care of babies, does not irritate, does not contain any harmful ingredients that may cause skin allergies;
- after sun lotion – soothes sunburn, accelerates the regeneration of the epidermis;
- hair and scalp conditioner – heals dry and flaky scalp, moisturizes and smoothes the ends; Rub the butter into the ends and scalp, leave it for at least 10 minutes and wash the hair;
- balm for minor abrasions and cuts of the skin – accelerates the healing process and has anti-inflammatory properties;
- eyebrow conditioner – a small amount applied to the eyebrow brush nourishes and helps shape unruly hairs.

For so many benefits, it is worth having a small jar always at hand!

Shea butter under the eyes
Shea butter can also be used under the eyes . Such a product reduces dark circles and puffiness under the eyes, and at the same time does not migrate to the eyes and does not cause irritation.

Essential Oils and Shea Butter
How would you like to enjoy the benefits of shea butter and the therapeutic qualities of essential oils at the same time? Mixing shea butter with a few drops of an essential oils can do amazing things for your health and for your skin.

What are the benefits of shea butter? Shea butter is one of the best ways to soften skin. It is thick and buttery without feeling greasy, and while it moisturizes it also helps to improve skin tone and heal scarring or stretch marks.

What are the benefits of essential oils? Essential oils are steam-distilled fragrances that are 100% pure. They have strong therapeutic properties. Have you ever smelled eucalyptus when you have a cold to relieve your congestion? How about peppermint as a deodorant? Some of these methods are practiced around the world, others are not used much here in the US, however the benefits have been proven again and again.
