Adjust the stand exactly like the picture and it's stable enough to hold the phone and swipe it. I will order another one for upstairs.

First of all, I will have to say I was suprised at the sturdiness of the stand's construction. It is made of good solid aluminum. Secondly, the convenience of having my phone nearby without having to look down at a table or holding it in my hand to use it is great. Lastly, my wife makes a lot of Zoom calls.with a tablet and she wouldn't think of going on one without grabbing the stand first.
