Box arrives open

Why do the seal on the boxes arrive open? And there is no refund even with the broken seal. Makes it feel like you're not getting the real thing.

Boxes were opened when I received them

I wish the boxes had still been sealed when I received them.

These were open boxes

I ordered two boxes of the 2pk. Both were opened and the drops was missing out of one of the boxes. However these are the best kits on the market cbs and Walgreens both use these kits to test people. I highly recommend

False negative

So all my kids were exposed through school and we bought this as we waited for the lab tests. Took four tests and all negative. The lab tests all came back positive for Covid.

No English instructions

This test is easy to use and is a quick, reasonable option for testing. This test is an antigen test which is not as reliable as the PCR testing so if there are significant concerns that somebody has Covid, a PCR test should be done if the antigen test is negative. The only problem is that the test came with 2 sets of Spanish instructions which was not helpful. I checked another box which also had only Spanish instructions. The outside of the box is in English which makes the lack of English instructions very odd.

Unusable

By the time I needed to use it, I discovered that the test packet was unusable. It's too late to return, so be sure to use the test before the 30-day return deadline. Packet is supposed to have a single blue control line and nothing else below that line when you lay it on a flat surface. Both packets had the blue control line with a wide purple line about 1/4 of the way up from the bottom. Although my results were negative (control line turned purple, and no sign of anything beneath it, I do not trust the results.

Hard to get right

I've done 4 tests and two of them had questionable results. They don't explain what to expect when the test runs. I was initially confused why one test had a blue "wave" creep up the test (that was normal) while the other did not (I hadn't put enough drops in the hole). On my 3rd test a strange vertical line appeared which isn't mentioned anywhere (only horizontal lines are supposed to appear). TBH, if this were anything less serious than COVID I'd say these were garbage but since they are so critical I'm giving it a 3* rating because it's often better than nothing.

Two False Positives

I think this a great screening tool but it should not be treated as definitive. Trying to be extra cautious, we tested my 3-year-old who has had some sinus congestion. He received two false positive results, as he tested negative with a much more accurate PCR at his pediatrician's the same day. I read later on the FDA website (after being totally freaked out) that having a "highly viscous" sample (read: snotty) can cause a false positive on an antigen test like this one. Feeling very relieved that we only had to spend 12 hours worried and isolating our little one instead of an actual positive case, but wish that some disclaimer about what might cause a false positive was written out on the packaging somewhere.

Good to have on hand. Hope I don't need them.

Last year I was looking for a home test kit for Covid. If I wanted testing locally, at the time, I had to claim exposure. I just wanted to be proactive, and know for myself if I was asymptomatically carrying Covid. Finally Abbot labs made one, and it was inexpensive, and did not require you to send a sample out, you could do it all at home. Great, I thought. Then the US Federal Government bought all of them. Why? Anyway, these are now available, and I bought enough to do a test, and a SECOND test if I do get a positive test. Like my fire extinguisher, I have it, and hope to never need to use it.

Fussy & Clumsy compared to Quidel QuickVue home test

After using both Quidel QuickVue #B093ND7LX4 and this, I prefer the other. Both tests require paying attention, but BinaxNow requires you counting out exactly six drops to put in a little reservoir as part of the testing, and you end up reading the result in a clumsy folded cardboard panel. Quidel QuickVue has the fluid preloaded into a little test tube, and you read it like the stick on a pregnancy test, so it is much easier. Hard to know how to rate this one for accuracy (there may be better ones in the future). Read the package insert.
