One Word Cryptopix should not be an EOWW

One Word Cryptopix should not be an EOWW

According to this site: Cryptopix are puzzles of multiple pictures where the answer to the puzzles is a word or phrase. If this is the case, why is it that if a cryptopix has a one word answer, it is published as a EOWW?

I think this should change and we should return to the original intent/distinction between OWW and Cryptopix. The OWW should be puzzles using creative means to get at their one word answer. As soon as multiple pictures are sounded out to reveal a word (or phrase), that should be a cryptopix.

From various discussions, I know that cryptopix are one of the most popular puzzles on this site. As I write this, last night’s featured crypto has 313 solves while last nights featured EOWW has 213 solve (it was a one word Cryptopix by the way). So if folks enjoy this sort of puzzle why bury them as EOWW making this sort harder to find?

I am fully aware there is a Tanganite group think involved here. When I was a moderator, and published a few one word cryptopix as cryptopix but the comments were all full of “should have been an EOWW”. I guess folks like to know if their cryptopix has one word or multiple words. But why? Whats wrong with a bit of a challenge in a crypto trying to figure out if it is one word or multiple words? I think it would add some nice diversity to those puzzles.

But I am curious what others think? Should Cryptopix be only multi-word answers? Or should the moderators/admins publish all cryptopix type puzzles regardless of length as a cryptopix?
