Some phrases I’m seeing in the comments on the puzzles. Phrases which, though they might be perfectly clear to those who have been here for longer mean absolutely nothing to those of us who are new to the site. And yes, I’ve searched around the site trying to find anything that might explain them, with (of course, since I’m asking the question) no luck.

“Typical Tanga” and “Tanga Numbers” (which I’ve seen shortened to “TN”) are the two most common. It appears that it’s common to take words gotten from clues and somehow turn them into numbers, and then those numbers seem to refer back to other letters. Exactly (or even approximately) how this works is some sort of black magic, as far as I can tell.

Any clues will be greatly appreciated.
