Don't forget your clocks tonight
This will be the last easy fall back spring forward period in our history of DST since the second world war. As President Obama and other world leaders agreed at the last G20 conference, beginning in 2012 a more finite system to regulate and monitor time around the world will be implemented.
The new system is somewhat based on the haversine formula for figuring any two points on a sphere, which I won’t go into here: If you are interested in the minutiae of the system – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haversine_formula
Based on the 360 degrees of the earth each degree of longitude will be 4 minutes from the prime meridian. You will set your clocks based on the longitude of your home or your location. Example: If it is Noon in Philadelphia, PA it will be 11:44 in Pittsburgh….. If it is 7 PM in Gilbert, AZ it will be 7:56 PM in Colleyville, Tx. & 6:36 in San Diego, Etc. Etc.
Early next year new watches with GPS function will always show the proper time for the location and of course all cell phones and forms of computers will do the same.
It’s hard to believe technology keeps moving us forward as such a rapid pace. I’m still trying to figure out how to set my sundial.
