Being new to tanga within the past two months, I’ve been catching up on a lot of old puzzles. (Note to new people: the ‘ivory’ example puzzle from the welcome faq is really out there for points.)

It seems odd that old one wonders are worth three points each, while old hypercross puzzles are worth one point. There’s virtually no motivation to solve a 20 clue/1 point puzzle.

Also regarding HC scoring: it also seems a little odd that a 15 clue puzzle is worth the same amount of points as a 30 clue puzzle (I’m talking about solving on the first day).

I don’t know if this has already been discussed … if so, let me know. I guess my question is: is there a reason not to tweak the HC scoring?

Maybe on the first day, it’s worth 2 pts/clue rather than a straight 20. Once they go to the archives, it could be a flat 6 pts.

Better ideas? Reasons to leave it alone?
