I cannot speak for the other Mods, but in general…

1. I delete anything in-jokey. Most of these revolve around Sy, but not always. My test here is: would this question makes sense to a new user 8-10 months from now.

2. I delete anything overly gross or potentially powderkeggy. Most of these revolve around Sy, but not always :)

(actually that’s not true, but the joke symmetry was too good to pass up)

3. I delete anything that seems really uninteresting or not well though out. Example:
Which do you like to read?
. Books
. Magazines
. Other

Also in this category, questions that know they’re silly, but don’t, for lack of a better phrase, “bring it.” I deleted this RQ today:

Which leg do you put in first?
. Left Leg
. Right Leg
. Both Legs – Boss status.

It’s a judgement call, of course, and this question is close. But for me, if it doesn’t matter how you answer a question (meaning there’s not real thought to which answer you’ll pick because it’s a joke question), then the whole thing needs to really make you smile… or have the potential to prompt some fun/interesting comments. And I felt like this question didn’t quite succeed on either of those fronts.

4. I delete anything that I feel has been asked MULTIPLE times before.

There are, naturally, exceptions to any of these, but that’s basically how I approach the RQs.

And as far as editing goes, I will edit questions for grammar, clarity, and for in-jokey content.
