Animated GIF Construction Question

Animated GIF Construction Question

OK – got an Animated GIF question. I DO know how to post them for the OWW puzzles, etc, BUT I have hopefully a relatively simple question about construction. I haven’t been able to do what I want, and expect there’s an expert in the crowd who can set me straight…

My ultimate goal is to minimize the file size. I think it will have +/- 11 frames, but am just trying to animate small parts.

I’m assuming there is a way to start with the main image (“Frame 1”), then just do some animation on top of that… Such as start with main image, add 1 detail, remove that detail thereby reestablishing (redrawing?) the original Frame 1 (via a blank/transparent image?). Then another detail, then remove (back to Frame 1, etc…

I’ve got a few programs, but haven’t had luck yet making it work. I’ve got:

1) Advanced GIF Animator : http://www.gif-animator.com/
The Undraw options are: Web Browser Decides / Do Not Remove / Background Color / To Previous State. Then there’s the Interlaced option which I can’t find any help on.

2) Microsoft GIF Animator (old). Undraw options are: Undefined / Leave / Restore Background / Restore Previous.

3) GIMP 2.4.1 : http://www.gimp.org/
But honestly I haven’t spent enough time yet trying to figure out how to work with the layers

I can get the first animation detail (Frame 2, with it’s transparancy) but I can’t remove it (Frame 3) to see the original (unaltered) Frame 1. Am I asking the impossible?? I know I can use a full image for every frame, but that’s not what I’m trying to do.

Any help would be greatly appreciated – And I will gladly dedicate this OWW that I’m trying to construct to … you!

Thanx.
