Teaching science fiction with board games

Teaching science fiction with board games

Here’s another topic similar to this one: http://www.tanga.com/forum/blogs/1584-Teaching_finance_with_games

Basically, I get to do a sci-fi club with middle schoolers over the summer. I have a $200 budget to buy games and other resources. I’m putting together my plans.

I’ve got 40 hours of time to fill with activities. We’ll do some light reading, watch a few videos, and focus on HG Wells quite a bit. If you know of free resources on the web, I’ve got a computer lab at my disposal.

I want to play some games (video and/or board) that demonstrate various sci-fi plot devices (time travel, parallel universe, etc). I’d like a “take home” (something they created that is ‘keepable’) at the end of the club.

Ideas on this club? All help appreciated!

And yes, I’m getting paid to play games and talk sci-fi with kids! :)
