In response to TangaJoe’s request in http://www.tanga.com/forum/blogs/known-tanga-bugs?comments_page=1#comment_473505, I’m starting this topic to track all known bugs on the Tanga site. Please feel free to list additional bugs or fixed bugs in the comments below, and I will try to keep this main topic up to date.

TangaJoe: I’ll try to keep the “this used to work” type of bugs to a minimum, but if the bug seems like it cripples the feature (e.g., #13), I’ll go ahead and include it. If a bug listed here is deemed to be a change in functionality, please let me know and I’ll mark it as closed.

Note that I will NOT track feature requests or “dislikes” in this topic. If someone wants to create a separate topic for those discussions, please free to do so.

The current list (in no particular order) as of Aug. 10, 2011, through comment [82]:

1. When submitting a Cryptopix, new lines are not automatically translated into HTML tags in the “Solution” and “Additional Notes” text. – Appears to be fixed.
2. When submitting a OWW, new lines are not automatically translated into HTML tags in the “Solution” and “Additional Notes” text. – Appears to be fixed.
3. Bold tags (<b>) no longer create bold text in any user-submitted text on the site (see http://www.tanga.com/forum/blogs/formatting-note-to-puzzlemakers?comments_page=1#comment_473450 for more information). – Fixed.
4. Leaderboard “Most Points in past 24 hours” does not show the current user’s rank at the bottom (all other leaderboards do, so I’m assuming this is a bug).
5. Leaderboard “Purchases for <month> <year>” is always empty. – Fixed.
6. Leaderboard “Purchases for 2011” shows only four single purchases. – Fixed.
7. The “Friend’s Activities” under “STAY” at the bottom of most every page usually links to a different user’s friends, or the friend segment of the URL is empty, and the link returns to the main page. – The link itself has been removed, so this feature is no longer available
8. The “Tanga Point History” page gives a reason of “No reason specified” for most everything except answering random questions.
9. The “Tanga Point History” page has unbalanced single quotes in the HTML for the hyperlink to random questions.
10. The “View Your Published and Upcoming One Word Wonders and Cryptopixes” takes you to a page that only seems to list scheduled upcoming puzzles. This link now takes you to an error page.
11. The title of a Hypercross is listed twice in the top three lines of the page.
12. The “Completed Puzzles” page only shows the last 24 solves puzzles, with no way to navigate to older completed puzzles like similar pages (e.g., Published puzzles, General Discussion topics, Puzzle archives, Random questions, etc.).
13. The “Recent Activities” page shows only the most recent 25 activities with no way to navigate to older activity (as it used to do).
14. There is a JavaScript error that appears on most every page (the error seems to be related to the attibute “data-blog-id” not being defined in http://d1np3q5ggw0og6.cloudfront.net/assets/tanga-fp-476e1a5b04708cf9bb3732f3dd91b010.js). – Issue came and went from day to day, but haven’t seen in a while.
15. Pages require horizontal scrolling on monitors at a resolution of 800×600 (currently the page has a minimum width of about 980 pixels).
16. The February 2011 leaderboard has not been updated for a few days. – Fixed.
17. Solving a Hypercross always gives a message that starts “You solved this puzzle in 0 seconds”.
18. Placing a number in square brackets (e.g., [10]) in a discussion topic does not create a link to that comment number as it does in comments, but instead links to location “#fnX”, where X is the number in square brackets (e.g., ¹⁰).
19. Apparently, winning Bottom Feeder numbers are displayed with the same messages as losing Bottom Feeder numbers (i.e., “Looks like one of the other 1440 picks from other Tanganites won this round… Here are your unlucky numbers!”).
20. The page http://www.tanga.com/daily-fun/contribute lists the points for a featured Hypercross as 250 instead of 500.
21. When sending a Tangagram or posting a comment on a puzzle or general discussion topic, if the last line of the text begins and ends with a (matching) single- or double-quote, and there is nothing after the last quote (i.e., no spaces or even a carriage return), then only the text between that first and last quote is captured.
22. The “All Time Points” leaderboard is currently displaying two (identical) rows for every person, instead of the one row per person it should have. – Fixed
23. When logged out, the two links at the top of the page, “Create an account” and “Login”, both take the user to the same page, and the cursor is always placed in the “Username” box of the “Create an Account” section, even though one would think that “Login” section would be the more used link.
24. When someone uses HTML tags in a post and forgets to close the tag, the formatting bleeds over into the rest of the posts on the page. – Fixed on the main page, but still an issue on the page that is displayed after posting a comment
