Watch the parade!

Watch the parade!

I hope you are are planning to attend your local Veterans’ Day’s events.!!
Taps brings tears to my eyes everytime!
I’m going to honor my dad, brother, uncles and cousins. I wear a flag and small yellow rose bud near my heart! My dad loved yellow roses.
I think this event is a wonderful learning event for your children: patriotism, honor and respect!
So much of that is not emphasised in schools as it once was.
It’s a crying shame, some schools don’t have the kids repeat the pledge; they just listen to it! It deeply saddens me when I see people not paying the proper respect when the anthem is played!! Stop talking! Stand straight! Hats Off!! I was also taught to place hand over heart.
We used to sing “My Country Tis of Thee” after the pledge. I’ll bet most middle schoolers don’t even know half if any of the words. And twice a month the whole school gathered at the flag pole for flag raising ceremony.
Please don’t forget that behind every veteran and current military persons are parents, spouses, and children who give and bear a lot. When Dad was in Viet Nam, I can remember the joy a letter brought, phone calls were scarce [maybe 3 in 30 months] The missing was so much worse on holidays and birthdays. I even missed him calling me knucklehead.,I can remember the anxiety in my mom’s face many times when the phone rang, If someone knocked on the door after dark sometimes her face would drain. She struggled every day to feed and clothe and parent us. In other words , she was a hero too.
So, get your waving flags, make a gllttery thank you poster, and have a great time at the parade!!
I thank all my fellow Tanganies who have, are serving or has a loved one who did or is serving!
And special prayers and remembrance for those lost whether in battle or in peace.
