I recently started trying out free games on my Android phone and I think I was right to have been resisting them before. They are quite frankly addictive. And there’s thousands of them… just waiting for me to try!

Anyway, there’s one in particular that has reminded me of some of our more vague One Word Wonders. Many people complain that One Word Wonders don’t come with instructions and the rules are different for each puzzle. Some folks hate that, preferring that the rules be clear, like for Sudoku or Crosswords or something.

But for those of you who like having to figure out what to do, may I suggest “Can You Escape” from the Google Play store? Its instructions are “Find your way out of the room.” Each level (there are only 10 right now) shows you a room. You have to solve some (fairly simple) puzzles and collect objects and figure out how to use information in what order to get what you need to unlock the door and move on to the next room.

I’m sure there are similar games like that out there. If you know of any, I’d love to hear about them. Or any other good puzzle/brain teaser apps for Android… please share. I’d rather go with recommendations than dig through all those choices. :)
