Press Release: Tanga Unleases Social Entertainment Network

TANGA UNLEASHES SOCIAL ENTERTAINMENT NETWORK TO SERVE GROWING COMMUNITY OF TANGANITES WHO CREATE AND SOLVE PUZZLES
- Fast Growing Puzzling and Deal of the Day Site Expands to Wider Audience –

St. George, UT and Seattle, WA. (December, 2007) — Go ahead: entertain yourselves.

So says Tanga, the fast growing “deal of the day” and puzzle publishing website that in less than a year has sprouted more than 20,000 members known as Tanganites and created more than two million page views per week. Today, the company announced it will add a new social entertainment network to the existing website giving an online community the ability to play fun, user-contributed games and puzzles with friends.

Tanga was founded less than a year ago by serial entrepreneur Jeremy Young with less than $100,000 of seed capital and an idea of offering a “daily deal” featuring one product at a deep discount off retail in limited quantities per day. In less than a year, Tanga has quickly built significant traffic to the website and more than $1.2 million of product sales. Along the way, Young combined another personal passion – solving puzzles on the site as an extra reward for his growing group of Tanganites.

“I’ve been fortunate to have had some success in the business of technology and I’ve always had a love for puzzles and games,” said Tanga Founder Jeremy Young. “Tanga is a great intersection of my two passions and I think we’re building an exciting online community and business out of this opportunity.”

Prior to starting Tanga, Young founded VServers, a web hosting company which he sold to Micron in 2000 for $48 million, and later founded Uberplay Entertainment, an award-winning publisher of board games, and SimplyFun that features its own award-winning family entertainment products through a direct selling model.

“I first heard about Tanga on another popular board game website and have been a regular visitor since – both for the puzzles and for the Daily Deals,” said John Morgan, a Tuscon, Arizona-based web applications programmer. “Tanga is something completely unique on the web. I’ve been entertained by hundreds of puzzles and published more than 25 of my own to the site. It’s a thrill to watch others try to solve my puzzles – it has me thinking of puzzles around the clock.”

For decades puzzles have been popular in forums as varied as college math supplements, preparation for graduate school exams such as the MCAT, LSAT and GMAT and in an array of daily newspapers. The past several years have seen mind teaser and treasure hunt game shows and reality shows such as “Deal or No Deal” and “The Amazing Race” become increasingly popular. It is the Internet, however, that has truly spread puzzle solving to the masses. As an example, a Google search of Sudoku, the popular numbers puzzle game yields more than 67 million results.

Tanganites have solved nearly 500,000 puzzles in categories such as One Word Wonders, Hypercross, and Crytopix. Nearly all puzzles are now contributed by Tanga users who receive Tanga points that can move users up the Tanga Leader Board. Tanga is currently in negotiations with a number of content partnerships that will further expand the offerings of the site in the future.

“I do Tanga puzzles almost every night before I go to bed,” said Cindy Lauzon a homemaker in Fredericksburg, Virginia. “I have submitted my own puzzles and I’ve solved more than 700 otherTanga puzzles and I’ve bought games on the deal of the day. I have a lot of fun watching my position move up and down on the global Tanga Leader Board.”
