I purchased this for my 80+ year old grandma who has very little smell...and was sitting in a gas fume filled home and had no idea. I'm so lucky she is still alive. We came up with the idea of getting one of these and putting it by the stove just in case she bumps the burner again. Only complaint is; since she has older outlets and outlet covers, for whatever reason this plug doesn't stay well in her older outlets. I had to put it upside down just to get it to stay on.
