My son is 9 years old and loves being in the woods . He is probably the most advanced 9 year old I've ever seen, as far as survival goes. Most of his gifts were things he had ask for, but this was one thing that he didn't Know about and it was a win. He's already mastered building a fire with it and it's actually pretty easy . Every year I look for a small, lightweight, thoughtful gift for friends' sons. They live in Germany so postage is a concern. The boys loved these! Useful for their many hours of hiking and camping and just looking cool. They thanked us profusely.
