Replaced my trustworthy W7 laptop for home use

Great item, I love this device. Perfect for my in home needs, eg. Netflix and Web Browsing, with google docs. I haven't run into something I can' t do on this chromebook. I use Linux at work and all my high end engineering packages are things I would not want on my home computer. I do have a small mini PC with windows just in case, but I haven't booted it up since I got the Acer. Biggest down fall is inability to use skype. Attempted to use ARC welder and the quality was terrible. Might be forced to use Google messenger

Really Pleased

I already have an earlier Chromebook, and a Chromebox. I use the Chromebox all the time but have not really "taken" to the Chromebook because of its diminutive size. Then I saw this Acer Chromebook ... and had to have it. First impressions are very positive. It's a real-sized laptop with everything for an adult human being in proportionate size. The screen is really sharp and crisp and it performs wonderfully. If you don't know what a Chromebook is then start with something less expensive to get used to the ins and outs of one. If you DO know what a Chromebook is, this is an excellent choice. I am very pleased!

We got 5! Wanna buy 2 more!!!!!!

5 chromebooks in our house, 2 cell phones, 1 IPad, 1 MacPro and an expiring laptop. I bought this one for me. We all love the bigger screen for movies. Great for older eyes. Kids chromebooks from school are compatible with this one. Grandma bought the 5th. Easy for her, too. The trick was getting our first canon printer to connect wirelessly. Call the cannon guys. They are great. We watch Watch movies, get apps for powerpoint/google slides instead, works just grand. Cant say enough good. Will buy 2 more just like this one. Chromebooks is the DEATH of microsoft!!!!!!!!!!

It's great, I sold my Toshiba 2 to get this one, and I prefer this one. It feels (to me) equally as fast as the Toshiba, has a longer battery life and the fan is way less noticeable. This can sit on my lap for hours and it barely gets warm. The screen is not as bright as the Toshiba, but it is still awesome and feels much easier on my eyes, plus it's obviously bigger. This one also feels like it can withstand rough handling more than the Toshiba. The only thing I miss is the backlit keyboard on the Toshiba, but it was worth it for the other trade-offs.

Great computer and operating system. Bye bye, Microsoft headaches.

Just a small learning curve for Chrome. What you can't figure out, you can easily find a video on, on you tube. I don't miss internet explorer/windows headaches and will most probably NEVER purchase a windows/internet explorer computer again. The only negative is that you cannot increase the size of the icons on the favorites bar. This seems to be something a lot of people have complained about and hopefully google is working on changing this. I don't like the idea of saving my stuff in a "cloud," so I'm looking for info on how to just save it to a flash drive. I highly recommend this computer/chrome operating system. I only hope that the next generation of them will have more memory. BTW, the picture for videos is very, very good and there are keys to brighten or darken.

Fantastic laptop at a great price.

I purchased one of these over 2 years ago and I honestly still love this laptop. Screen is great, keys feel nice, speakers are acceptable, and it runs smooth as butter. I've also done quite a bit of tinkering on mine with this machine too. ChromeOS is fantastic, but I wanted a bit more flexibility with software, mostly Skype. So I installed GalliumOS (Linux) on this and now I can run pretty much anything I want since I have access to the full Linux library of software and most windows applications though Wine. ChromeOS will soon be able to run Linux applications anyway, so I'll definitely purchase another Acer in the future when that comes to pass. In the meantime, I think this may be my favorite computer purchase i've made and I've owned dozens.

Worth every penny and then some

I have been using Chromebooks for the last 3 years and I could not be more pleased at the jump in quality from the c720 to the Chromebook 15. I haven't had any of the screen blackout problems that others were originally reporting which has been great. The screen you get for $350 is fantastic and the speakers have performed beyond my expectations. My main concern before I bought this specific Chromebook was that it would be too big. All the reviews I read commented on how large and heavy it was and how it was less of a travel laptop then something you move from room to room in your house. I travel a lot and have found it to be a perfect companion. It's big but not heavy and is thinner than I expected it too be. It's large screen size is great for movies and working but still slides right into my bag. I would recommend this computer to any and everyone.

Product is amazing! Really is helpful and suits my needs for computer use easily. Im not a a gammer and didnt need all that extra stuff. This chromebook is perfect fro casual use to heavy web browsing i can have several videos loaded at once and the computer runs at 100% rarely has a glitch. 1 Huge problem is this particular model has a tendency to have bad screens. It cost me about 180$ to replace my screen just 3 months after buying my chromebook. Its a problem ACER is aware of in this model. Hopefully newer models have been corrected. but with the money i saved buying online i still havnt put 500$ into this computer and it Fits me perfectly. Most other computers 500$ or less are going to have low RAM and run crazy slow in a small size computer, This is amazing picture quality with a great viewing/anti glare screen (which comes stock) and my favorite part is the 9hour battery truly lasts 9hours

Finally! A 15" HD Chromebook!

Have used my the Chromebook 15 for 2 days now and I can definitely say it's the best (affordable) Chromebook on the market! I've had a few Chromebooks in the past but I've been waiting for a 15" HD version...and it's FINALLY here! The screen in excellent. Doesn't obviously match the resolution of a "retina" Mac display....but it's wonderful for the price. You're signing up for a large device, but you probably already knew that. Somewhat bulky but the weight hasn't been an issue for me. Solidly built and great battery life. This thing flies too! Fastest Chromebook I've used so far! A backlit keyboard would make this thing almost perfect (for the price). Only really disappoint so far has been the speakers. They're about what you'd expect for this category.....but I suppose I was spoiled by the Toshiba's Skullcandy speakers. For movies and Youtube they get the job done.....but don't expect to fill a small room with sound. Highly recommended!

Acer made an excellent choice in not settling for a TN display

If you want a large screen, this is an exceptional value. Pros: The IPS display is gorgeous for the price range. Acer made an excellent choice in not settling for a TN display. The colors are rich and uniform across all viewing angles. As a bonus, this has a faster processor than most chromebooks, So, responsiveness and page load times are excellent. There is sufficient memory to actively switch through a dozen or more tabs. In short, it does everything you'd expect from a Chromebook, except a little better. The sound from the speakers isn't spectacular, but it's better than I've become accustomed to with modern ultra-books. Mixed: Acer chose to stick with the standard Chromebook keyboard layout, which omits the number pad. This is probably a good choice for most users, but it does limit its usefulness when editing spreadsheets, which it would otherwise do well with the big screen. Cons: It's big, even for a laptop of this screen size. Choose something smaller if you desire portability.
