Screen looks great, feels responsive

Received it one week from when I bought it, exactly as promised. Screen looks great, feels responsive. Weight is absolutely NOT a problem for me-- still feels lighter than some of the Windows laptops we've owned over the years. I upgraded from an Acer c720, so I went from one of the smallest Chromebooks to one of the largest. Even with that comparison in mind, I love the form factor. Working on this will be a pleasure. Speakers are more than adequate for my needs (Netflix, YouTube, etc.). Great combination of SSD, RAM, HD display. Update: after using this all day, every day as my only computer for work and home, this is a fantastic computer. The keys feel responsive, the display is amazing. I've gotten compliments on the quality of the display on occasion. I still like the weight and form factor. MUCH larger than my C720, obviously, but worth every bit of size and weight when you are working on it all day long. When paired with Linux/Crouton (look online for instructions), this can transform a Chromebook into a nice Linux laptop. Can't beat the price for the SSD and RAM specs.

Best Chromebook for under $200!

I had used numbers of Chromebooks before, this Acer C910 is by far the best one for under $200. The case has a nice a nice textured feel and the display is gorgeous 15.6" with sharp 1920x1080 full HD resolution. Best thing I like about the display is the non reflective matte finish. So no more reflection of myself in the screen under bright lighting. The speckers are top firing and sound great for watching movies. Mine came with a 1.7GHz CPU, eventhough the specs sheet stated a 1.5GHz CPU, and with ample 4GB of RAM and 32GB SSD storage. Running multiple windows is a breeze. Battery life is solid 8 hours long. And the 802.11AC WiFi is fast! This model is a discontinued model, but someplace still sells for $400. I got it on Amazon for under$200. It's a killer deal. Too bad there was only 1 available, otherwise I would have bought two of them. Chromebook is SO EASY to use, up and running in just seconds and no need to worry about virus like Windows PC.

Great Chromebook With a Nice Large Bright Screen

I love my new Acer Chromebook. I purchased an HP Chromebook and there were several things that I didn't like about it. I also had problems with it dropping my wireless connection. I sent it back and purchased this Acer Chromebook. First off I do like how Chromebooks works. There is no hard drive, and no windows that needs to load every time you start it up. You open up the chromebook, and in a snap, it's ready to go, even if powered off. Hit the power button and it's ready in maybe 5 seconds. There are limitations, that you certainly have to keep in mind before you purchase any Chromebook. This Chromebook has a beautiful 15 inch HD screen, and it's very sharp. Some people said it was dull, or pink, but I don't have any problems like that. The speakers are mounted on the front, unlike the HP, and are clear and plenty loud. The HDMI connector makes it easy to hook to a TV or external monitor. Even the keyboard is nicer than the one on the HP. If you've decided you want a Chromebook, and don't want to buy one with a small screen, don't hesitate to buy this Acer Chromebook. It's a nice machine.

Insane performance from a solid build and my new favorite toy

HD graphics, quiet keystrokes, webcam and microphone, SSD, more processing speed than a Chromebook could ever need and the lack of weight from no moving parts as well as adding insane battery life all culminate into a fantastic buy!! If you simply need something for work and browsing, Chromebooks are what you need! PROS: Insane speed from booting to shutting down. LONG battery life, especially given it really is a laptop Graphics and processing speed, even from streaming HD from the net, is outstanding Light weight and rather thin Beautiful textured exterior (think carbon fiber look, plastic feel and grip from texture USB 3.0, full sized HDMI out and SD card Upward facing stereo speakers are of good quality, especially for laptop speakers Even though it is intended as a web browsing and document heavy usage device, the viewing angle is insanely wide so a few people can watch movies or videos on it together CONS: The first day I had it, I was frustrated with very slow booting and a camera that was useless as well as speakers that just did not work, The second day I got my first update (to current release, not build release) and like a magic wand had been waved, everything was perfect! From 100% charge, I read 8 1/2 hours of battery life, not the advertised 9 hours.

The machine is great and incredibly fast

The machine is great and incredibly fast. The screen is great. The speakers are great. The only design flaws for me: I would like 2 more USB ports, an SD card reader that lets the card sit flush with the machine, and have the speakers straddle the track pad so that the keyboard could be expanded a bit and include a CAPS Lock key and a delete key. HOWEVER, you know this going in, so I would not list that as a negative. Google Chrome is still growing and that is not so great, but I still stand behind this as a great alternative to the virus prone Windows which killed my laptop. There is still not a good MP3 player for Chrome and for me that had become a drawback that I've solved by using my phone. However that is something that needs to be rectified. Getting used to the ins and outs of the cloud, and the restraints of working when offline take sometime getting used to. HOWEVER, if you are already a Chrome devotee, these should not be issues. ALSO the Google Chrome chat staff is excellent and help walk you through nearly any issue you might have. SIDE NOT: DO NOT BOTHER with downloading the MicroSoft Word APP. Looks good at first, but runs rough and created problems (at least for me) when saving. Stick with Google Docs, streamlined and smooth.

Love it! Perfect size, not too heavy, and exactly what I was looking for.

Most of the reviews I read about this product listed the large size as a negative, for me, it's a positive! I love the size of this chromebook, I can actually see what's on the screen and, even better, I can have two windows open side-by-side, and easily see what's in both windows (a feature I use a lot!) As expected of a Chromebook, it's really fast to start up (dare I say, faster than my husband's new Macbook Pro?) and is quick and easy to use. I'm so glad I bought this to replace my dying Macbook Pro. My old Macbook Pro (2009) had a good long life, but recently many of the components had quit - most importantly the RAM. Not longer being in school, I decided that I didn't need the whole office suite, and was mostly using the computer for the internet anyways, so I figured a Chromebook would do the trick. I'm very glad that I bought this! Another one of the negative comments most people had about this computer is that it's heavy (5 lbs.), coming from my old Macbook Pro (13"), this thing is not heavy at all. In fact, for it's size, I feel like it's quite light. The only con I can really come up with is that the keyboard isn't underlit. That was one of the things I loved about my Mac and will forever be missing, but maybe sometime in the future, they will make one with a lighted keyboard. Oh, well.

Information Technology Student - Very Satisfied

The Acer Chromebook 15 C910-C37P is an incredible piece of equipment. I'm an Information Technology student that was searching for a very lightweight laptop that I could bring to the library for homework and to class for note-taking. It is fast enough to access my school's course material website and to open Microsoft Office via the web browser for Word and Excel projects. The simplistic design keeps everything neatly organized around the computer via app format, and it's very convenient for keeping track of my work. I'm extremely satisfied with its size and the placement of the keys. The caps-lock key is originally a search symbol, but it can be changed to caps-lock permanently in the settings. I can open many tabs in my browser without the computer freezing, and the battery lasts for a very long time. It does everything that I expected, and I can even write scripts that can be tested via the browser in Python and JavaScript. I was very spectacle of this purchase, and was surprised so see the Chrome OS function this beautifully. I'm not a fan of Apple because of their decision to keep most of the applications bound to their OS, but I can access everything that I desire using this operating system. It has enough plugs for USB devices, and even an SD card reader. There is literally not a single thing on my mind that I cannot accomplish on this laptop except for the obvious gaming, which is not this hardware's purpose. If you want a device capable of gaming, you should be willing to invest $1000 or more into a gaming laptop. It was well worth the money, and I'm pleased to have chosen this over a more expensive Windows computer.

I still dislike the fact that you can't drag-and-drop a file from ...

This is my second Chromebook. It is fast, both while opening tabs and when starting up. I connected it to a large monitor for my mother's ease of viewing, but there are features in Settings that allow you to significantly increase the normal font size and magnification on the laptop's own screen. Switching back and forth between the laptop's screen and an external monitor is a little clumsy in my opinion. Perhaps this is because Chromebooks typically have slower processors--I don't know. If you use Dropbox, one of the first apps you must download and install is File System for Dropbox. It works with well with the Chromebook's own filing system. I still dislike the fact that you can't drag-and-drop a file from Google Drive to Dropbox. You have to take an extra step by first dragging the file on the Chromebook's SSD, an external SSD card or a thumb drive then drag the to Dropbox. Come on Google, don't punish the consumer. The 4GB of RAM is a must on Chromebooks, and hopefully someday they will come standard with 8GB or at least the ability to add more. The feel of the keyboard is acceptable to me. There are no perfect keyboard; you simply get used to it after awhile. I've got very, very long fingers but my favorite keyboard is the one used on the Asus Flip. Its keys are very close together--for some folks, too cramped for typing long-form documents. Go figure! The laptop has a rubbery shell that feels very nice and comfortable. You're not going to lose your grip and drop the thing, and it's not going to slide off the desk.

My 3rd chromebook - and the BEST!

I started out with a Samsung Series 3 as my first chromebook, then upgraded to the first Toshiba chromebook. I just received my Acer Chromebook 15 and all I can say is WOW! The screen is very impressive, and the battery life is excellent. Even though the battery won't go 10+ hours like the other newer Chromebooks, the CPU performance is nearly double that of the Asus models or Toshiba Chromebook 2, and that is more important to me for what I expect from a chromebook. If I'm streaming music and working in Chrome Remote Deskop or have a heavy-duty editor like RA going, I don't enjoy having the music skipping when the CPU can't keep up. No such issues on the Chromebook 15. The trackpad is also the best on any of the chromebooks I've used, and the keyboard is easily as good as any of the others. The speakers are ok, not great, but that isn't terribly important to me - when I want to listen to music, I stream over bluetooth to a proper speaker. I upgraded to this chromebook so I could connect using Chrome Remote Desktop back to my iMac at full HD, primarily for all my Adobe Cloud products. This is so much better than my experience on the lower res chromebooks, as I can work seemlessly on my Acer Chromebook 15 at the same resolution as my iMac. I was worried about the increased weight over my Toshiba, but it really isn't nearly as heavy feeling as I was expecting. For my day job I use a Dell Lattitude E6430 14", and the Chromebook 15 is not nearly as heavy. The case is much sturdier than either my old Samsung or Toshiba as well. Truly a very impressive Chromebook - you can't go wrong with this device.

The white looks good but I just love the matt carbon black

Purchased mine from a reseller in Amazon. This is the educational market version of the Acer Chromebook 15 CB5. The main difference between the two is the color. The white looks good but I just love the matt carbon black. The notebook might be all plastic but the combination of the matt carbon black and the textured finish gives it a feel that this is not a just a budget notebook. There seems to be a bit more careful attention to its styling and detail than I have seen with most low end Windows notebooks and even other Chromebooks. I am generally impressed with the body build, it gives the impression of being a more expensive notebook than what it really costs. The speed is great, there is hardly any lag, comparable to the Haswell powered Chromebooks but Octane benchmarks show that this is a bit faster. Battery life is exceptional in my use, better even than some other Chromebooks. Its big as you expect as a 15" but it does feel lighter and better balanced than the 15" notebooks I previously owned. I certainly didn't mind carrying it around once I found a good sleeve for it. The front speakers are very good, they give a rich natural sound. The keyboard has this short travel in it like so many recent thin notebooks, but I got used to it quickly and could touchtype on it fast. The trackpad is large, generous, responsive to the touch and the surface feels very smooth. The IPS HD screen is exceptional, the best I have seen on a notebook with the exception of the Toshiba Chromebook 2, which I think is brighter and has more saturated colors thanks to a higher pixel density. Overall, this is so far the best Chromebook I have owned, and perhaps the best notebook I have the privilege of buying for under $500. I have owned a number of Chromebooks though I have not owned a Pixel yet.
