This Chess & Checkers set is probably the best one I've ever seen, because I am still looking for something that's wrong with it, which I have not found. 1. The set is 100% wooden, so it won't fall apart over time like other cheaper sets. 2. The set can fold up with all the pieces inside, using magnets to hold it shut. (This is the only part of the set which is not wooden, but I'm not complaining) I especially like being able to bring it around places so easily, without having to constantly stress about losing the pieces. 3. The set is at a very conveniently priced, much cheaper than the other Target wooden chess sets. 4. I noticed before buying this set that there was one other review, saying that the set was not good for beginners because it is so dark. I can see your point, but the rest of the set is so good that I don't really care. Besides, a wooden chess set should be wood-colored.

I'm a chess fanatic, have been playing for over a decade with different sets throughout the world, and the only ones I can rate higher than this one would be the ones made of marble, precious stones or metals, those made for professional tournaments or home decorating. whether you like to play indoors or outdoors, this affordable set is a great value!

Worth the money I recommend this board

For only $12 this is an amazing chess set. Magnetized lock up , foldable , and completely made of wood. One review said its dark making it not good for beginners. I think it looks fine. Its not hard to tell the difference between the shades of brown. The wooden pieces may not be the best but they will hold up for a long time and are good considering the whole set is only $12.

Can't beat the price. All wood. I feel bad about buying something made so inexpensively, but it was the affordable price that allowed me to indulge.
