Cheap and inaccurate

I recently purchased these 2 thermometer to monitor my steak cooking. I started using the red one first last week and my steak was a hot mess (rare). I Have cooked filet mignon 500 time with thermometer in the past 10 years and never failed to get it medium rare. Last week I failed... immediately I suspected new thermometer ... This week I decided to engage the back up thermometer. I set up a comparison (see pic) The red one lost 😡 BAD. The company refunded my money so I’m not complaining about that, but filet mignon is $29 a pound and that was an expensive steak. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised it is 2020...

The thermometer I received reads about 4 degrees too high and can NOT be calibrated. Accordingly, it is worthless to me. I strongly suggest buying a thermometer that can be calibrated.

Worked great for a few weeks. I thought the battery was going because it wasn’t staying on. Purchased new batteries but it’s just dead. Turns on for maybe a moment or two and then just shuts off. Just Outside the return window so now I’m stuck with this
