great nostalgic flavors

Great mix of hot chocolates for a party. Many nostalgic flavors like the Charleston Chew and Sugar Babies that come close to the actual candy, all taste great but kids have no idea what those candies are. As far as the issue regarding the left over goop in the k cups, it is indeed an issue, but not a huge one. I thought they tasted fine once brewed, but afterward i went back and scooped the extra stuff out and put it into my cup which made it taste better. This to me is a hard choice, while it defeats the true purpose of the k cup - to make things easy, you cannot find flavors like these in a box. For the price, i usually just go buy regular hot cocoa in a box then just use my keurig to get the hot water, its a lot cheaper. if the price is right i will splurge on k cups for my kids.

Remarkable

Honestly, I'm not sure whether to be an excited dorky kid, or a freaked out adult here. The sampler package includes hot cocoa mixes intended to replicate some of the most iconic off-brand, weird candies: sugar babies, Charleston chews, Tootsie rolls, Junior Mints. The questionable thing (the question depends on how you slice it) is that the cocoa tastes EXACTLY like the chocolate. Fire obvious reasons, that screams holiday/Christmas temporary product, soon cancelled and never seen again. So, if you're looking for cocoa that tastes this way, you've found it! Buy it fast! It's probably already discontinued.

Wonderful flavors! More Peanut Butter, please!

The selection of hot cocoa K-Cups used to be pretty slim, and I found that recently, Swiss Miss was pretty much the only one that didn't have a weird artificial sweetener aftertaste. Then, there was this pack...It was as though angels came from on high and left it at my door. The Junior Mints flavor is sublime. Absolutely sublime. Campfire has a wonderful toasted marshmallow undertone, Sugar Babies is a brilliant chocolate / caramel blend, and yes, Tootsie Roll tastes like an actual Tootsie Roll.I thought the chocolate Charleston Chew was decent in its own right, but indiscernible from any other good-quality hot cocoa. The vanilla and strawberry variants were ones I could definitely do without. It's a shame I got so many of them, yet only one Peanut Butter Cup.Each of the Brooklyn branded flavors seemed to be overfilled with cocoa -- which is stupendous if you're like me, and use the 8 ounce setting. But -- they were also about 50/50 when it came to brewing properly on my

Fun assortment of hot cocoa

This assortment of hot cocoa k-cups from Two Rivers contains a variety of novelty flavors based on popular candy. At the current price of ~$20, the cost of each cup is about $.50, which is a good price for hot cocoa k-cups.My family drinks a lot of hot cocoa k-cups and I have a milk chocolate variety on subscribe and save. What we've found to make them taste the best is to set your Keurig on the smallest serving size - 6 oz. is good. Then we add some whole milk or half-and-half to the cocoa after it's brewed to make the cocoa a little richer. That method worked well for us with this assortment of flavors. We didn't have the problem with the contents of the k-cups not dissolving like some people have mentioned. I'm wondering if there are variations in the temperature of the water from different Keurig machines? Also, the needle where the hot water is forced through the k-cups can get slightly clogged and affect the amount of hot water forced through the k-cups. I have to occasionally ream the needles with an unfolded paper clip so wonder if that might be another issue for people who are having a problem with the cocoa not dissolving. My kids were super excited to try the different flavors. There were 7 people here when the assortment arrived and we had an impromptu taste test. Everyone agreed that the peanut butter cup was the most delicious flavor that tasted the most like the candy. Some of the flavors tasted more like the candy than others. For example, the tootsie roll flavor tasted good but not much like a tootsie roll.If you have kids and y'all like hot cocoa k-cups, I can definitely recommend this sampler pack for the fun factor.

A great way to find out which ones you'd like more of

(I received a free sample for evaluation and an honest review.)This product is called "Bit of Everything," and it definitely delivers on that! I didn't like everything in it, but my goal in trying sampler packs is to help figure out what varieties I do like before I order a big pack of one flavor. I think that will be the biggest point of my review, because while I can tell you what I like...that doesn't equate to what _you_ will like. I did find the overall quality of the choices to be good, though, so I'd say it's worth risking ~$20 to get a pack of 40 drinks to see if you like some of them. There's a nice variety for coffee drinkers as well as tea drinkers, along with flavored drinks like flavored coffees, hot cocoa, and apple ciders.I don't tend to like flavored coffees or drink much tea, but this was a refreshing change of pace for me. I actually do like several of the flavored coffees in this, but that's probably because they don't have all that much added flavor. The maple varieties make my kitchen smell awesome because they do have a strong aroma, but the flavor itself is quite muted. Some of the other flavors are a bit stronger. Many of the hot cocoas were very good, but some had an off taste like they had too much artificial sweetener in them. Again, better to find that out with one versus a pack of about 20. :) I also liked the apple cider packs. While I am more of a "regular" coffee drinker, I found that I enjoyed the other options in this pack more than the straight coffee packs. That might be because I was comparing the regular coffees against the coffee that I normally buy, and I didn't like most of these as much - but that's because I've figured out over the years what coffee I like the best. :) The more specialty drinks didn't have anything to compare against, and I've liked most of the ones that I've tried (I still have a few left, but I've tried most of them).I think that the quality is good, and I've liked a number of these, so I do think this is a nice pack to try out.

Great selection of familiar flavors, with some minor issues.

I love hot chocolate. I have had bad experiences with K-Cup hot chocolate, and while I've gotten used to the fact that there will always be some amount of Sucralose in a K-Cup hot cocoa, I've found that some products are better at measuring it out than others. While I have no doubt that there's some Sucralose in these (there's no ingredients list on the box) I think they're doing it like the Swiss Miss K-Cups, in that it's one of the last ingredients and I can't really taste it because they also sweeten with other things, like regular old sugar.Whatever the case, this box full of hot chocolate has a nice selection of tasty beverages. My favorite is definitely the Junior Mints Hot Cocoa, and my least favorites are the Charleston Chew Strawberry Hot Cocoa (it tastes a little too sweet for me) and the Mexican Spice Hot Cocoa (it's actually hot-spicy, not just with cinnamon, and I don't much like the feel or taste of the spice). Your mileage and opinion may vary, but for my tastes these are the two that stand out on either side of the spectrum. The Carnival Salted Caramel Hot Cocoa was pretty good, and the Tootsie Roll Hot Cocoa tastes exactly as you'd think it would taste. All in all, it's a great selection if you're a hot cocoa fan. Now, a word of warning. These are not newer "approved" K-Cups, so they won't work in a standard Keurig 2.0 unit at all. I have rigged mine to work with any K-Cups, but if you haven't done this, you won't be able to use these K-Cups. That said, with the Keurig 2.0 "Hot Cocoa" setting, these turn out nice and frothy, and taste great.I'll certainly be considering ordering more of these-- especially those Junior Mints K-Cups. These make the chocolate lover in me quite happy.Update: I did finally run into the issue others have mentioned, with the cocoa getting jammed up in the K-Cup and not coming out. I found that you can avoid this if you shake the cups a bit before brewing. If it happens anyway, carefully remove the cup, cover the holes with your fingers, and shake it a bit, then careful fit it back over the needle and try again with a smaller brew size.

Skip the Machine – Enjoy the Cocoa

The sampler is a mixed bag, but there's plenty of goodness to go around.First off, while it's marketed to Keurig machine owners (of which I’m emphatically not – the very idea of proprietary food creeps me out),I’d recommend the Hot Cocoa Sampler to anyone who loves chocolate – hot or cold, solid or liquid - and all you need is boiling water and a cup. There’s built-in fun with such a collection because everyone will have their particular favorites and you just can’t stop checking them out.Yet, as good as some of the flavors are, I find they don’t vary a whole lot and several struck me as pretty similar or extremely subtle variants. Regardless, I think all of the flavors are superior to ‘Big Cocoa’ brands such as Swiss Miss and Carnation.Of the more memorable flavors in the sample pack – pro and con:Brooklyn Cocoa – has a very clean, simple ‘like a milk chocolate bar’ flavor – rich and not excessively sweet.Junior Mints – the first of the popular candy flavors I tried didn’t quite emulate its namesake in liquid form. The mint is (kinda) there but the chocolate ‘coating’ flavor is more convincing.Midnight was the dud of the bunch for me. Very undistinguished taste that was the most similar to the ‘Big Cocoa’ brands and their low-fat variants - which I especially dislike.Charleston Chew Chocolatey Nougat – another subtle one. I know the candy well and, if you savor the cocoa, it really does take on the candy flavor. But if you’re looking for a bold burst, you’ll likely be disappointed.Milk Chocolate was very close to Brooklyn, the first one I tried. Good and neither too sweet or ‘waxy’-tasting.Campfire – Creamier and richer than some of the others but also sweeter. I don’t mind sweet if it doesn’t obscure the chocolate body, which this one came close to doing.Tootsie Roll – Another bummer, flat and indistinct. Ironically, Campfire tasted more like Tootsie Roll than this one did(?)Sugar Babies – Love the candy, the cocoa has a similar ‘waxy’ (in a good way) flavor and is almost as sweet. This one came closest among the candy emulations.Peanut Butter Cup – Didn’t work for me. In fact the only flavor I wouldn’t try again (and I love the real thing).Carnival – another vague, generic not-bad flavor that lacks real character.Mexican – Nice rich and clean taste. Not especially spicy, so I don’t really get the connection, but I enjoyed this one a lot.I was also struck by how easy the powders dissolve – there’s none of that residual sludge on the bottom of my cup no matter how much I stir. I realize they may have been formulated for machine use but they work fine straight into the cup.The number and distribution of flavors I received wasn’t even - literally: I counted only eleven flavors rather then twelve as advertised - and there were only singles of the Peanut Butter Cup and Carnival flavors. Not a big deal – there’s plenty in the forty samples that are really good - but true obsessives may complain.Bottom line: If you’re used to the big commercial cocoas give your palette a vacation and explore some alternative flavors. You probably won’t like everything in the sample pack, but you’ll no doubt discover some new favorites – but don’t be surprised if that free stuff in the pantry at work doesn’t cut it anymore.

Fun Family Friday: Hot Cocoa Tasting Sessions - good mix, a bit of a mixed bag.

This is a bit hard to review as it is extremely subjective. Our panel of reviewers (x4) were really mixed in which ones were blah and which ones were aaahhhh. Overall, I think we really enjoyed the sampling but this would probably not be a mixed pack we would buy again as there were several flavors no one liked.Quality: No problems with Cuisinart K-Cup brewer (SS-780) dissolving these. We had good flavor at both 8oz and 10 oz settings. A few flavors were weak at the 10 oz (not surprisingly). Most enjoyed:1) Brooklyn Milk Chocolate: we found this smooth - it was enjoyed by all. No funny after taste. Again not too sweet.2) Brooklyn Midnight: this was the richest of the flavors and my personal favorite. No funny after taste. Did not quite pull off tasting like a dark chocolate, but was not overly sweet. I would like it creamier.3) Junior Mint: Smelled exactly like a junior mint. It was a very minty smell but not overwhelming. This did not have an artificial taste, and it was enjoyed by all. It was the surprise one in the box, as none of us thought we would like it.Mixed Bag:4) Charleston Chew Chocolate Nougat: this almost was a win for us (3/4 liked it). It is subtle, but there is a slight funny taste that I think is the candy. It was sweet, but not too sweet.5) Charleston Chew Strawberry: only 1 of us liked this one but he gave it a 5/5. The rest of us thought he was nuts. It is very strong smelling - with a very artificial strawberry taste. In all fairness, none of us is familiar with any of the Charleston Chew candies.6) Peanut Butter: in all fairness, I dislike peanut butter. However, that said, my comments were "it's not as awful as it sounds, but it's not good either". This was split between 2 really liking it, 1 really disliking it, and me going "meh".7) Charleston Chew Vanilla: we all said "not too bad"... but it is not one anyone would seek out.8) Campfire: Think hot cocoa + marshmallow. It was a mixed bag - again a slight artificial sweetener taste at the end. It could be the -marshmallow, which we had a hard time picking out flavor wise. Again no one really liked this one, but no one disliked it either.Less enjoyed:9) Carnival: Salted caramel. I wanted to love this one - it was the one I was most excited about. It was unanimously voted "just ok" - we found this one had an odd after taste that bothered some more than others. The after taste was a killer on this one.10) Mexican Spice Flavor: This one was more reminiscent of chai tea to us than a true Mexican cocoa. The cinnamon does pop out but the after taste was bad on this one.11) Tootsie roll: tasted just like a melted tootsie roll. Yuck. See...if you LIKE tootsie rolls, you may love this one.12) Sugar Babies: I don't know this candy, and neither did the rest of us. We all could not get past the smell - yuck! We just can't tell you if it is true to the candy or not. But, it was too sickly sweet smelling and artificial tasting.Bottom line: it was a fun doing these family tasting sessions to get through the flavors. For us, that was a win. I would buy a different sampler pack just to do that again. I think it was a broad mix of flavors and at least one of us liked the majority of the flavors (8/12). I think there was a trend for the sweet tooth of the family to like almost all the flavors (he liked all 8, whereas me with the anti-sweet tooth went for the subtler flavors).

Top of the charts for K-Cup Cocoa

TL;DR: Unique flavors, lots of variety, decent price. Well worth the purchase for fans of hot cocoa.First off if you have one of the annoying new Keurigs (like I do), you'll need to bypass the sensor that scans for "authorized" K-Cups. I highly recommend you do this. Either look on Youtube and do it for free, or buy this:

Too much coffee.

I received 21/40 coffees, 5 teas, 4 ciders, 5 hot chocolates, 3 cappuccinos, 2 ice teas. I would prefer more of everything else and less coffee, thats why I ordered this variety pack, and not a plain coffee one. I am happy with the pack overall, but due to too much coffee k cups I won't order this particular product again. It comes in an attractive box, that would be suitable for gifting.Of the 21 coffees I got: 5 bold roast, 6 medium roast, 3 light roast, 7 flavored. Flavors are great, but as I said way too much coffee overall. I am glad I got 2 ice teas, I wasn't expecting ice tea and my machine doesn't make it, but its nice to have exactly two to try anyway. I would be ordering this pack on regular, if they lowered coffees to maybe 10 or less and add more of others. Thank you.
