These things are the most realistic "torches" we've ever seen. The quality of the "flame" and flicker are incredible. We started out with a 4-pack, and enjoy them so much we ordered 6 more for our planters in the backyard. The documentation suggests they "burn" from stored solar energy about 5 hrs per night. Maybe it's because we live in central FL, but some nights they stay on all night. On lesser sun or mostly cloudy days, they still last at least 5-6 hours after automatically turning on at dark. The one funny thing (but by no means detracts from how great these things are... if we turn off the back flood lights, it causes some of them to go out immediately. But they come right back on seconds after turning the brighter lights off. We've recommended these to everyone we know. So fun, and nice that a product does EXACTLY what it advertises, and the online videos and pictures are 100% true to form. Highly recommend - you won't be disappointed!

I have been using the torches for a week now and I'm happy with the result thus far. The flame looks quite realistic, they are nice looking lights, well built. After an initial quick check to see that the torches work after unpacking, I initially charged them for 2 days in sun light with the switch in OFF position (I put them into an empty bucket for easier pointing and tilting towards the sun and moving around for maximum charging). At the moment they are lit for about 12 hrs (~6pm to 6am, it is November), even though, the last few days have been overcast to cloudy. In the morning, after they have turned off, I tested them by covering the top to see if they still have energy and they do. Of course, this will deteriorate over time. Now it's just a question to see for how long they will last (batteries and plastic). I purchased another, different set from another vendor but I returned those since their "flame" looks quite fake, more like dancing dots, not as realistic as these (but I did liked their torch cage design better, the “flame” was a little bit more orange/amber and their manual was a little bit better written). Now, the manual could have been written a little bit more clear. It contains some contrary statements - under Specifications: “please charge the lamp about 2 sunny days before first use it” and under Notes: “Please make sure you have turned ON the light before using, and charge the solar torch light under direct sunshine at least 8 hours for the first time.” (neither statement is false and would work) It should just say: before initial use, charge in direct sun light for 2 days with switch in OFF position, then turn to ON for use (and leave ON). They should also include this statement from the seller’s page in the manual: If battery capacity reduces over time, switch the light off for 3-5 sunny days in order to boost the batteries. (it also implies that the batteries can be charged in OFF position the way I did it). Otherwise, great product and I’m happy I could finally replace my old, amber solar lights that have been deteriorating and falling apart form years in the Arizona sun. Time will tell how long these will last.
