It bright up the room, exactly what I wanted. Previous one was the same, but died out of no where after 5.5ys.

Don't cross-thread poles during assembly and you will be rewarded with a beautiful, elegant torchiere. Hard to find such simplicity I've found. Bad reviews are from those who did not follow very simple directions about not cross-threading. Now you know and can order this great lamp!

It fits really well for the purpose it is being used.

I am surprised with the negative reviews regarding the assembly. I had no problem assembling the lamp. But I am careful and patient. Yes, the threads on the sections can be a little tricky, but they go together tightly if you are careful. Just make sure the threads are lined up before you tighten each section. When they turn smoothly, you are in! I put in two 100 watt equivalent LED bulbs, and the dimmer works great. Not sure why some had problems with the dimmer. For $50 it is a excellent value for a quality lamp compared to similar items on the web. Years ago I purchased a similar lamp from HD that had just one lamp socket and only a 2-position Hi/Low switch. I like this Target lamp is much better because of 2 lamp sockets and the dimmer.

I was a little worried about the reviews, but honestly this was so easy to put together. However, the secret is a very late Gentle Touch when you're first starting to screw it together, that allows the threads to engage on their own and once they've made three or four circuits they'll just continue very smoothly until it's tight. This lamp was very straight when it was together and looks very elegant. Plan on getting a second one soon.

I like the way this lamp lights up a room. The style of the lamp is also a sight to behold.
