I decided to keep it and I’m happy with the operation so far, but when I bought it, didn’t say it was refurbished.
THE GOOD: Looks nice, from a reliable brand. Warranty seems good.THE BAD:_The exit point of the extension cord sticks straight up and rubs the wrist in an irritating way. Doesn't have to be designed this way B&D! A side port would be much better._The temperature dial is just numbers, a fabric selector is better to keep from frying delicate items._The steam dial is right at the finger, so I found I was constantly moving it by accident._Too long to heat up. Did not really start to perform well removing wrinkles until 30 minutes of use. At which point it started to work quite well. I had a Rowenta that did the same thing. Almost ugly....but you'll see that category is unacceptably ugly...THE UGLY:_Anti-drip...NOT. The "anti-drip" printed on the side sets up unfulfilled expectations. A good bit of HOT water randomly dripped out onto my bare foot after several minutes of use. Not a trip to the burn unit, but quite an unwelcome surprise. It leaked for the first 30 minutes of use. At which point it was almost out of water. Seriously. (note: I did not fill it close to the capacity line, and let it heat a few minutes before use)._On first use it scratched two of my wife's delicate shirts. Although the stainless steel plate looked perfectly shiny and flawless out of the box, upon closer inspection there was a tiny burr near one of the water holes. I did hear a slight sound when ironing my dress shirts, but they survived well being of more durable material.CONCLUSION: This one is a loser. Sadly. The idea of a "maximum durability" iron is very appealing. But the unit I got was a big fail.
