Unfortunately the area where your child's ankle bones will rub is a hard stretchable plastic weave material. After one day of school my son came home complaining about his bumps(ankle bones) hurting on his feet. They were red and looked badly chaffed. This is a brain dead bad design. The weave itself is not but it's location/lack of ankle padding is gonna be a problem for many kids. Perhaps this can be mitigated with extra thick socks or shoe inserts. But choose a different shoe you'll thank me for saving you the waste of money. Cool looking shoe, bad comfort design.
