Exactly what I wanted, but didn't even last a year

I don't use these for gaming and I expressly turn them off for phone calls, so I can't review those aspects. I only play compressed audio from Youtube and Spotify, mostly music at work. I personally don't like true wire-free earbuds: they're too fussy and too easy to lose or drop when you take them out, especially in my work environment. The Beats are great because when I'm interrupted I can just pull them out of my ears and let them fall - and the magnetic catch that pauses my audio is a great bonus. The battery life is great. I use them 4-8 hours per day and only have to charge them every other day or so. The little audible low power noise is helpful, too, and not intrusive. Unfortunately, yesterday they appear to have turned off for the last time, after giving me the low power notification immediately after fully charging, and I've tried all the resetting and re-pairing suggestions provided by Apple, but they just won't power back on. Purchased end of August 2021, died beginning of June 2022. As an electronics repair technician myself, I'm pretty disappointed these have pretty much no way of being repaired, since this seems to be how all of them eventually die. $50+ is not a nice price for a disposable commodity.

They're ok for the money

These are pretty ok if you want something cheap and basic. I'll break this down into sections for easier reading. Sound Quality.. I generally like flat sound, but these are just beyond flat. They're more on the dull side. I listen to variety of music and nothing sounds good on these earphones. My $20 Sony earphones have much better quality. Phone Calls.. I have to say, these are my favorite earphones for phone calls. Sound quality is poor for music, but it's quite good for calls. It has side tone, but it's not adjustable unfortunately. Bluetooth Range.. Apple has some magic in these. Bluetooth range is amazing with my iphone. Even with my Android phone, range is great but not as good as with the iphone. Controls.. It's a huge improvement over the previous Beats X. You get actual human size buttons that are easy to press on these new Beats Flex. Comfort and Fit.. The earphone tips seem too hard. They don't really want to stay in your ear. I threw them out and replaced them with a spare pair of silicone tips from my Sony earphones. Also considering how mediocre the sound is, I'm wondering why the earphones themselves are so huge. I don't exactly have small ears, but these things stick out a lot. Basically, if you like to fall asleep to music or podcasts, these aren't for you. If you roll over to the side of your head, the buds are gonna jab your ear canal. USB-C.. Thank you Apple for making this USB-C. One less cable to carry around. If you don't have a USB-C charger, then you're gonna need one. Also, these earphones come with a really short USB-C to USB-C cable. I think they want you to charge them from your laptop. So you might wanna get a 3-foot USB-C cable too. Battery Life.. It's not bad. I mainly use these around the house for a couple hour at a time. Usually after a week, I need to recharge them. So I'm sure you listen to these through an entire work shift and still have power left. Water/sweatproof.. Nobody knows! The packaging doesn't say, and the Apple website doesn't either. But some people are saying the earphones still work after some sweaty workouts. Considering how cheap these are, I wouldn't be too sad if they died from sweat/water. Just buy another pair to replace them. Other.. The cords are stiff! They're so stiff and rigid, they kinda go all over the place. Looks and feels odd. If you look at the models on the product page, you'll see what I mean. It would have been better if they made the neck cord stiff, but make the earphone cords soft/loose. Also, I really dislike the flat cables. They feel flimsy and seems like they'll break. Time will tell.

Miss my Wired Beats!!

Bought these to replace my WIRED Beats Headphones and go wireless due to using with a cell phone vs Ipod. Pros - battery life has been great, easy to use, like the loop behind the neck help from falling off while riding and losing, Wind doesn't cut them off like the ones that are just a bud for each ear. Cons - Even on max volume wind & engine noise makes music hard to hear.

6 months and it's dead.

I really didn't mind the connection issues on Andriod devices. Didn't even mind the random pausing. What I do mind that a $70 wireless earbuds with the "Beets" (pun intended) should have lasted longer than 6 months. Battery is dead. Beats used to stand for quality. Guess nowadays it stands for "Give us more money" Out.

Brand New

The old one that I lost was able to hook around my ears so that I can jog without it coming off my ears. The new one, you CAN NOT move around because it comes off your ears.

Pretty good can use some improvement

Sound quality good. I love that I gave you a different sizes of ear buds which is a plus. The connection with the Apple Devices that shows you how much battery life is cool — when it works. It's inconsistent. Often I have to go into my Bluetooth area to make sure it connectEd. It's always supposed to connect with an unlock device but it will connect with any other device around you that has already been connected though usually the last one, so that can be frustrating. Apart I really hate are the buttons. They are so small! Great probably for tiny fingers but not for adult hands. How to get used to wearing it around your neck and figuring out the buttons—and again because they're tiny I find myself fidgeting around the device part to find them. Apple makes it easy with the warranty. I bought two and one of them bad right earbud so they are going to replace it.

Sound is ok at best

Sound quality on calls is average at best. Paired with a current iPhone and up-to-date iOS, the sound quality is echo'y and a bit monotone. Example, the cheapo wired Apple headphones sound better when you compare the two in the same call, they just do. Will not compare them to more expensive noise cancelling/isolating wireless earbuds as that comparison is not fair. If you can get this set on the cheap (say 29.99-35.99 at most) then go for it as a backup. Any price more and I would say buy the cheapo wired apple headphones or go for a wireless earbud such as aipods pro or beats fit pro.

Excellent sound quality and bluetooth connections. Second one that just stopped working.

I've had two of these headsets and both did the same thing - stopped working for no apparent reason. The sound quality is excellent as is the bluetooth connectivity. The materials and controls or very good/comfortable. I'd get it again except this is the second Beats Flex I've had that worked great and the battery was good then ... dead as a doornail. No tapering off of battery life and functionality, just would no longer charge at all. Very frustrating. Sadly am looking now for a better substitute.

Works fine, but I would expect better from a name like Beats

These were purchased to replace a set of 3 year old generic Chinese wireless Bluetooth earbuds. Same design as these, with the cable connecting the two earbuds. I like the ones that are linked with a wire. This way I know I won't loose one. I use them primarily for bike commuting (ONE earbud in only - right side to leave left side to have full traffic awareness). I also wear them went working on project around the house. Used for both podcasts and music. For podcasts they are perfect. For music they are sonically quite flat and missing base. I listen to a lot of classical music and the low end is richer and fuller on the 3 year old $27 generic units this replaced. The one area where I am truly shocked is the poor performance when I've used them for some conference calls. If I move my head the slightest, I hear the sound of the cables rubbing on my shirt in my ear phones. I have also had multiple times instances with a huge amount of hissing noise in the background. This never happens with the cheap units. Also lack of water proofing is disappointing. I don't try to ride in the rain, but the cheap units have high water resistance rating. Why can't Beats do that? The one area where the Beats totally redeem themselves is connectivity. The cheap units won't auto reconnect on either my phone or iPad. I always have to delete them, then reconnect. That is and of itself was super annoying. The Beats connect flawlessly EVERY time. Just a joy from a use perspective. Turn on and it works. I also don't mind the USB charger. For now it's slightly annoying as other devices have lightning or Micro USB, but that is changing quickly. Plugging in the USB C is simple and perfect every time. No more guessing what way the plug needs to go in when attempting to connect Micro USB in low light conditions. Plus Micro USB is pretty delicate. Some complain that a charger is not included, but most of us have enough chargers laying around the house. Maybe adding a standard USB to USB C cable would make them happy. In short usability is excellent. Sounds quality is deeply disappointing for a brand that promotes great sound. Especially when an older set of Boltune Bluetooth headphone can sound better and have serious water protection. Two things Beats should have been able to do better.
