When your computer goes to sleep this device does not. The little blue light stays on the entire time the computer is in hibernation or sleep mode. It appears to continue to use power which isn’t good for the planet. Also it is slower at 2.0 than the 3.0 usb port

I would have given this product a higher rating if it had come with a male to male USB cable. It came with no information about DC power (voltage etc.) On a lap top it must have external power to have enough power for all devices plugged in. I used one of the USB ports to connect to USB charger using a male to male USB cable (bought separately). This USB power arrangements seems to be work - nothing blown up yet. I have several USB hubs with no external power. Now that I've discovered this trick, I may be able to get some use out of them with this trick. Knowing this I could have avoided buying his hub.

If you need a nightlight, this is the product for you. It’s bright enough to illuminate a dark room pretty well. Unfortunately, that is not the purpose of this hub.
