WhiteFox Custom Mechanical Keyboard: Kaihua Tactile Brown Switches

Thoughtful Construction:

The WhiteFox is designed to fit everywhere. Desktops, laps, and backpacks are all fair game for this sturdy, but light keyboard. Its aluminum chassis strikes the perfect balance of weight and durability. Even small design features, like flush screw heads, were meticulously engineered.

Its color scheme was inspired by Arctic Foxes and snowy expanses of tundra. Metallic tones and pure white hues pair well with modern computers in all settings.

Kaihua Brown Switches:

Tactile keyboards provide tangible feedback whenever a key is pressed. The tactile “bump” in Kaihua Brown switches is defined, crisp, and appropriately long-lasting. The bump occurs early in the keystroke, which sets Kaihua Browns apart from competing switches. Kaihua Browns also work hard to keep your fingers comfortable. A gently increasing force slope, which fades in after the main tactile event, reduces finger fatigue and prevents harsh impacts.

Monoprice selected Kaihua Brown switches for their tactile performance, which is better than competitors like Gateron and Cherry. We expect the switches to last longer, in terms of feel and electrical durability, due to their superior tactility and tight tolerances.

Premium Keycaps:

WhiteFox keycaps will hold up in all typing situations. PBT plastic, which is more durable than ABS, resists the shine that plagues other keycap materials. The keycaps are printed via dye sublimation, an enthusiast approved process. Their legends, or letters, will last for decades.

Immense Customization:

The WhiteFox layout can be customized to the Nth degree using a web configurator, a command line, or TMK keyboard firmware tools.

The WhiteFox keyboard branched from the BrownFox, which was conceived by Matteo Spinelli on the Deskthority and Geekhack keyboard forums. The BrownFox inspired keyboard hobbyists everywhere, showing that forum participants could become creators.
