This unit is only about 6 inches tall. It lights up well. I plugged it in by the back door as bugs get in there. For 3 days I did not hear a single bug zapped. I had read the directions and am waiting for the 5 days it said to wait for full effect. On the 3rd day I picked it up and there was a dead misquito under it and a couple fruit flies. For this reason only I am not returning it. I was ready to, but when I saw the few dead bugs I decided it had done what it was advertised to do so I am keeping it. I am disappointed, though.
