It really does need 24 hours in light before it works the first time. It has been on consistently ever since. It stays lit for several hours. I love the pattern the light makes.

Absolutely love this! I set it up on my front porch. Be sure to remove the cover that’s on top of the solar panel and turn it on! I forgot to do that the first night. When I came out after it was dark when it had absorbed sun, it was beautiful, and cast the shapes of hummingbirds on the ground. It’s the perfect size shape and brightness. I think it would also look really nice mounted on a stand out in the garden! I recommend setting it out in an area that gets atleast 6 hours of sun for the best brightness and lasting light at night time.

I like these lanterns as they are well made and most importantly - keep my wife happy. We have these hanging on Shepard poles in our raised garden. The lanterns stay lit for at least 10 hours each night with six hours of sunlight exposure. They look good and display butterflies on the surface around them. It appears thr optimum height for mounting is approximately two (2) feet from the ground to the top of the lantern The lanterns supply quite a nice look to our garden and the area adjacent to the lantern position.
